I have the 10" Viewsonic gTablet and after playing with it for so long, I am glad I didn't settle for a smaller 7" one.

I have a 7" Elocity A7 and love it.

Nook Color feels just right to me. Running CyanogenMod, it is a pretty functional tablet. With that Buy.com deal, you could pick one up and add the appropriate MicroSDHC for under $200.

@apfrehm: I looked at the NC, but at the time some functionality wasn't working on a modded version (specifically BluTooth)

I can fit my 7" tab in a pants pocket if I need to semi-comfortably, a 10" wouldn't fit at all, that was one of my big reasons for going smaller. The other was weight, I use my tab for reading for long periods frequently. I didn't want something that weighed much more than a paperback book and would get my hand/arm tired.

@cybercowboy: What was the Bluetooth issue? At least currently (though I haven't played with it myself) it is supposed to be working, and I believe I have seen video of people using Wiimotes with it. Was it a specific device incompatibility, or were you just looking before the bluetooth bit was figured out?

I have an iPad (10 inch) and a BlackBerry Playbook (7 inch) and like them both fine. I do like having more real estate that the iPad provides, but typing is much nicer on the PlayBook.

They both have their good and bad points, I would test both out and see which you prefer.

I hope we see more selection in the 7inch category, I like the idea of a lower price and greater portability.

8" is perfect, you can wave it around in front of the 7"ers and feel superior and still not hear any complaints that it's too big to fit..In your pocket.

I have the 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab unlocked with 3G and WiFi. I use it with a bluetooth headset as my home phone and since it's an android device it has hundreds of thousands of Apps available. It's my music player, book reader, picture frame, clock, email reader, web browser, game player (drag racing is my fave followed by Farkle), and it's fun to root and mod the Tab.

I just bought a 32GB TouchPad on amazon for $150, so . . . never mind!

Thanks for all the great input, folks, but 7" vs. 10" . . . price rules all.

(Besides, the rumored "TouchPad Go" appears to be vaporware after all . . . $%@&ing HP.)
