What are you giving the children in your life this holiday season?
I'm trying to stick to just books and a DVD for my nieces this year, but it's hard (even though they're pretty awesome books, imo). They have so much stuff, though, and they'll get much more stuff from their parents and grandparents.
Let me shop vicariously through you. What cool toys/gadgets/books/movies/etc. are you giving the kids in your life?
We are giving our son an ipad mini so that we can finally get our ipad back.
Rawhide and catnip for our "children." :)
My nephews are each getting a medium size Lego set. The younger one (he's 9) is also getting a junior size football and a cool (Woot!) t-shirt. The older one (he's 12) is getting duct tape, a Star Wars Origami book and origami paper and a cool (non-Woot!) t-shirt. I let their parents handle the gadgets.
I'm giving my son a hand made drinking horn, an autographed football (3 Steelers autographs), and a Craftsman socket set.
Little sister #1 is getting a Kindle, a few Guardians of Ga'hoole books, two pop culture shirts (Doctor Who, etc), and a Nightwish wallscroll. Little sister #2 is getting Lego Harry Potter years 1-4, pop culture shirts (Doctor Who, Star Wars, etc), a Harry Potter "Always" necklace, and some earrings and such. ^_^
giving them a lesson in disappointment :D
Actually, my wife and i make it our mission to get the noisiest/ messiest toys and gifts we can find for my elder siblings' kids. I consider it payback for having a tormented childhood at their hands. Either way, we're known by the kids as the aunt and uncle who give the best gifts ever :P
We are giving the lego watch featuring Woody from Toy Story, which was purchased from Woot. We figure it's time the nephew started learning how to tell time.
I'd like to give two of my kids (and their wives) a smack up the side of the head (Gibbs slap won't do) just to get them to wake up and figure things out.
Otherwise, still shopping.
Radio controlled helicopters and art kits. Six of one seven of the other. Nieces and nephews done.
clothes, books, legos, stompeez, wooden block toys for the really young ones.
Unlike my usual gift of babysitting, I bought something this year: Record-A-Story Books
:) My daughter's getting a tablet, one of those cool plug and play Sega systems, various girlie things (perfume, nail polish, etc) and a last minute gift of a pair of headphones I saw her looking at.
My nieces are getting various toys.

I'm giving my 14 year old Five seasons of The Big Bang Theory, a hoodie and a The Oatmeal print http://shop.theoatmeal.com/products/thomas-edisons-nightmare-signed-print
He doesn't want much so we are grasping at straws here.
The "kids" in my life are 15 and 19; it looks like an iPhone might be happening for them to go with their other iThings.
Each child will be given an extra portion of gruel, due to the holiday.
An inspirational book such as The Day An Angel Ran Into my Room or What is God?
