Need 2 iMac for my kids who r 11 & 12? can anyone help me?
Have you tried to Apple store? http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/family/imac. Or are you looking for used/refurbished ones?
Where do you live? I'll check craigslist for you.
Also check out Apple's educational pricing. If you must buy Apple, you might as well get the best possible price on it.
don't turn the kids into douchebags, buy them pc's.
I graduated from high school in the early '90s and my kids are 3 and 4, so I've got a little gap in experience, but:
1. Why do kids that age 'need' their own computer?
2. Why does it 'need' to be an overpriced Mac?
@matt1976: as far as why they "need" a computer, my 7 yr old is already using MS word to write up projects, and she learned the basics in Kindergarden. We've had to look up things on wikipedia for other school AND extra-curicular projects (girl scouts and tae kwon do). There is also an online service that she uses in school and she has a password she can use to access from any web-connected computer called "lexia reading", where she can actually continue stuff she started in school, reading and English. I can easily see her needing her own computer by age 10.
With 3 kids and 2 adults in the family, there is no way the kids will be able to share 1 computer, let alone mine or my wife's.
finally there's the factor that kids are ruthless, and will attack any perceived difference in other kids, and not having a computer, unfortunately, will probably make kids seem weird to the other kids.
This being said, there's no way I'd ever let a kid under 13 use the web unless I was right there.
@kamikazeken: Right, my brother and I did all of our papers on our family computer as soon as my parents could afford a printer.
I just don't get why each kid needs their own individual computer, and especially one that's so grossly overpriced.
Kids need to learn that there will be difference between them and other kids. Do you want to have a couple little drones? I remember hearing from my parents, "If all the other kids jumped off a bridge..."
like I said, seeing multiple kids trying to use 1 family computer doesn't seem to make sense logistically. As for why apple products, my guess is they're jut an "apple family"
