I agree w/your theory. Seems the bloom is off the rose, the honeymoon's over for shirts.woot. I'm a little testy & disappointed. But, I am not CRANKY!!

vote-for57vote-against

the shirt.woot fiasco is the main cause of crankiness i believe

vote-for21vote-against

Shirt.woot changed the blanks and kept the price, which sucks because I had just started to get into shirt.woot

There have been more wootoff killers than usual today

Most of all, it's the middle of the week. Those just suck in general for those trying to keep up with work/school. The absolute worst timing for a wootoff, in my opinion.

Those are my theories/reasons. Fire away..

vote-for32vote-against

Hell, I am always cranky. That being said, Woot Off's have been bad... and I am not talking just the last couple ones. For the most part, these are are not "deals". They are standard retreads, and most of the time for the same price they were offered for in the first place.

The Woot Off used to be an event, now it is... boring.

vote-for10vote-against

if you're talking about the "next item!" "where's the BOC woot!?" "buy 3 so the next item can show!" those are normal

vote-for8vote-against

I'm inclined to agree as well.

vote-for14vote-against

I for one am cranky because we were promised a winter this year and WE NEVER GOT A WINTER. Here in DC, we've had something much like summer all year long, albeit with a tad less humidity.

Every time we have a brief spell of cold weather, I perk right up and remember how delightful it can be to have a brisk chill in the air.

Anyway, that's my excuse. Of course, ten or twelve good bunches of cantaloupes would make things All Better.

vote-for39vote-against

It's all about the shirt.woot drama.. I've lost my Woot! spirit..

vote-for7vote-against

@gertiestn: I agree. I miss that nice winter chill that I have become accustomed to living in the Midwest.

I also have to say that "cantaloupes" have the power to make everything better.

vote-for8vote-against

Since I have not felt well I actually slept last night, had to run errands this morning, and internet crashed this afternoon, but after seeing the grouch factor I don't feel so bad about missing several hours.

vote-for6vote-against

@gertiestn: i'm surprised by the love of cantaloupes here. i too think a good one is better than most else, but haven't met to many others that do too.
you can have my chill. it's still low 40s for highs here. and my bed isn't much warmer :(

vote-for17vote-against

I've been noticing the woot decline for some time now. Hence my black triangle down to a green or whatever it is now. I just don't see the deals I used to see and I too am disappointed in the shirt.woot travesty. Woot off? Bah. Not when the prices are the same as they originally were. I may be ready to buy a projector so I'll probably snag one of those when they come around again but I think it's time to search out some of the millions of other deal sites out there and find a new home. The community here is great but Woot is losing it's luster.

vote-for19vote-against

Get off my lawn you little bstards!

vote-for15vote-against

I didn't get enough sleep last night and I wasn't hugged enough when I was little.

vote-for7vote-against

I'm going thru snow withdrawal. I was promised snow and received none.

vote-for9vote-against

We're not cranky.

Now get off my lawn.

vote-for17vote-against

didn't woot-off prices used to be generally few bucks cheaper than regular woot for the same item?

last year or two prices seem to be no different

vote-for10vote-against

Maybe a musician should write a song instead of video killed the radio star, it could be how Amazon killed woot.

vote-for8vote-against

I was cranky about s.w. this morning, but I settled into watching the woot off this afternoon. I will agree, though, this is one of the (not so uncommon) slower moving woot offs. Between 5:30AM and 11:00AM there were only 5 items for sale.

vote-for7vote-against

I bought salty chocolate..next thing I need to buy is 'road rash' t-shirts with a empty bag of crap..

crank away!

vote-for-16vote-against

Because all you geriatrics ran out of Depends, it's not fun sitting in _ all day, is it?

vote-for9vote-against

@iggz: For the last few wootoffs, I have been wear my adult diapers so I don't miss a good deal. After how disappointing these last few have been, I might have to put my big boy pants on again.

vote-for17vote-against

It is the lack of wootoff deals that we are used to. Normally you see people saying how great an item is and even though they paid a few bucks more in a regular woot than the wootoff price they would say it was still worth it. Now people are just scratching their heads wondering if the old wootoff has retired and the new wootoff is like a garage sale run by someone who thinks there is no depreciation on their stuff even if it has sat on a shelf for awhile. wootoff used to equal bargains. Now it is blank shirts, keyboards, and toolsets.

vote-for6vote-against

Everyone is cranky because it is raining

vote-for9vote-against

@petrosrex: Woot is causing it to rain on every wooter's head.. metaphorically speaking

vote-for6vote-against

@devexityspace: I agree. Woot may have found a way to make Lent/late winter even more depressing.

vote-for8vote-against

I got downgraded to a purple! Gurr...

vote-for7vote-against

@underinsomnia: That's nothing. Woot has negated my previous purchases.

vote-for6vote-against

I wish woot would find some new gadgets to put on the board. Its the same old stuff from the previous ones.

vote-for8vote-against

There's too many Woot-offs and they're too predictable.

vote-for3vote-against

Also because I missed that a satellite having an orbit less than the radius of the earth will hit the earth, not continue in its orbit after doing some very funky mining through the earth.

vote-for4vote-against

@petrosrex: Yep. As the saying goes, "Strange weather we're having."

vote-for7vote-against

Some one said earlier that they were annoyed because most items were a retread of old deals, and I would tend to agree that is part of it. However, I think that another factor is the lack of goofiness that they randomly use to toss in.

I know that they offered a paternity test thingy before and have offered glowing flush toilet handles, but those are typically at the end of the woot off. A good woot off used to include usb hula girl statues, mobster light gun games, and the assortment of bacon salt and Todd's Dirt. While occasionally we get a fishbowl usb item or a sampling of Todd's Dirt, they no longer dominate the woot off as before.

It use to be that the woot off would be dominated by the aforementioned oddball items, you know, the stuff that you would see crammed in some one's basement on an episode of hoarders. Only occasionally would something like a laptop, usb drive, or t.v. pop up. Now we see it all the time. Not sure why this is.

vote-for4vote-against

Thanks everybody. I did not expect so many answers. I hope that this allowed some of you to vent. (Instead of kicking the dog/cat ironically named "woot") It's sad to think that woot may be moving away from what it once was. Is that change good or bad? Who knows, but we will always have Paris.

Sorry. I got a little carried away there. Anyway, I hope that woot and wooters will stay quirky, e.g. Staying up days on end, mashing the F5 key, clamoring for screaming monkey slingshots or "B@gs of Cr@p", etc. I hope that we can all learn to appreciate the freedom to... Ok. Ok! no more monologues.

Again, thanks for the theories and remember that today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Walks off, into the sunset. Fist held in the air in triumph

@bluejester: Could this perhaps be because of Amazon?

vote-for7vote-against

@petrosrex: I don't really think that there's a link between Amazon and the lack of frequent, odd items. I think that part of it is that who ever is in charge of buying right now isn't really making those type of purchases for the woot storage places. If you go to the jobs section of woot.com, you'll see that they have the need for people to go out and act on their behalf as purchaser. I think that is more likely where the connection lies.

vote-for3vote-against

@bluejester: I thought I would offer the too frequent scapegoat for woot's issues.
