The Book of Mormon, hands down. It will end up being a classic.

Non-serious? Avenue Q

Serious? Les Misérables

vote-for3vote-against

@gideonfrost: Same here. I will probably check it out when the tour hits Chicago or Detroit in the next few years.

I can't narrow it down just to one of anything.

For fun, Hair, The Lion King, and Spamalot

For more serious theater, Into the Woods, Cabaret, and Les Mis

1776, but then I am not really a fan of musicals.

I loved Wicked. Loved it. That's my absolute favorite.

I would like to see The Book of Mormon sometime, though. When the ticket price goes down a bit.

The King and I, but only when performed by Yul Brenner.

"IT IS FORBIDDEN"

vote-for3vote-against

Not my favorite but I have always liked "Kismet"

Cannibal! The Musical. It makes every day I watch it feel like a shpadoinkle day.

vote-for5vote-against

for one I can watch multiple times, probably The Music Man.

But not that abomination performed by Matthew Broderick.

As an audience member, probably Les Mis. Yeah, yeah, everybody says Les Mis. That's because it's that good.
As a cast member, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Tons o' fun.

Into the Woods. It's currently available on Netflix streaming. Everyone should watch it multiple times. Or once. Once would be fine.

any that doesn't have singing and dancing.

I love Phantom of the Opera. I like the music for Wicked. And I grew up a huge fan of Yul Brynner and the King and I was my favorite musical for many years. South Pacific also has a lot of very memorable music.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

My vote is for 1776 - seeing the founders of the country sing and dance while trying to craft the Declaration of Independence is truly a hoot!

And then there's Camelot - saw it with Richard Harris - awesome!

vote-for1vote-against

Avenue Q since it always makes me laugh and the score is good
Old school would be Hello Dolly. Wish I could have seen the Carol Channing version, but hey I wasn't born until the 70s.

@funkadelic78: I hated the score. Heard it a bit on Sirius XM and couldn't get into it. Maybe I need to see it.

@psumek: Possibly. I love the themes of the play, questioning religion and authority, the comparison of the mission kids with warlords, and the notion that it is all made up anyway. Just Matt & Trey poking fun in their normal irreverent way.

Late addition here, but Across the Universe was effing amazing.

Not sure if August Rush counts, but that was pretty awesome too.
