The free tag was incorrect.
We verified that the deal was still valid and unexpired the deal.
When we saw the duplicate, it was deleted.
We'll check on your comments about a default free tag. That doesn't sound appropriate.

@jumbowoot: My question was more along the lines of why delete the deal that everyone is going after? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to the community and to deals.woot! to have the most "clicked" deal in eyesight? Essentially you went out of your way to make a deal less popular. That doesn't make sense to me at all.

I have seen a similar situation that you are referring to. I tattled on a deal by (unspecified but occasional sponsor) that was a duplicate. The previous deal was eventually "expired", leaving me to look like a dumba$$ for tattling on it. My comment could have been removed as well but wasn't. :(
