Have you heard about LG television's "Dual Play" feature?

A 3D LG TV with the Dual Play feature allows multiplayer video games that are normally played in split screen, to be played privately in full screen for each player. So each player wears their own pair of 3D glasses and is only able to see their character and their portion of the game on the screen.... in full screen. And their opponent is able to see a completely different picture full screen of their own character. So no more looking at your opponent screen to see where they're hiding / when they're reloading / what they're doing AND you both get a huge full screen picture versus split-screen.

It's sick. I want it. :-)

Yup! And if you don't want to pay money for the new glasses, you can take 2 sets of 3D glasses, pop the lenses out and Frankenstein them into your new "dual play" glasses. All you need is one pair to have two right lenses, and one pair to have two left lenses. Don't let LG know I told you this!

That's pretty sweet. I had not heard about the LG, but I saw Sony's 3D display for the Playstation 3 awhile back that could do this. Sony's was a very small screen though and only worked with PS3.

I can't believe I used to play 4 player split screen on 20" TVs...

This has been around for a while. it's such a good idea. I can't believe that it hasn't caught on more heavily yet.

Only a small handful of existing games support this right now, but it's a cool concept. Rather have this than 3D, frankly.

So this must be what my son was talking about. He told me a few things he would like for his birthday and one was a pair of glasses that let you play a video game split-screen but you only see your part of the game. I kinda thought he was nuts.

This is awesome. Sure, I'm clueless, but this gives me actual reason to think there might be reason for 3D. Up to now, I just felt like it was kind of a waste, really not worth the extra cost at all.

The problem with this idea is is cuts the frame rate in half. For some people that may not be a big deal but for me the flickering effect makes me very uncomfortable.

sad part is i remember talking about doing this in physics back the days. With our current technology they can do it up to four people if they really wanted. It is not that complex of a problem.
