Do you get oil changes at the dealership?
I've had had a 10+ year old used car my entire life... still used, but much less old, last year I bought a 2008 Ford Escape... it was "certified preowned" yadda yadda. I'm under dealer warranty 'till the end of 2014.
My question is, is there a real benefit to going to the dealership for oil changes?
I believe that they charge $40-$50 for it. I think they say "we check all the hoses and top off all the fluids" but the dealership takes an entire morning or afternoon to get this accomplished... when the Jiffy Lube across the street is $20 cheaper and I've never waited more than 20 minutes.
I've heard the scare tactic of "you'll void your warranty by going outside the dealership"... but as far as I know, that's not the case with normal maintenance work like oil changes. (and keep all the paperwork)
Any input on the issue would be much appreciated.
