Can I charge my device with higher voltage battery?
From research i've done i understand that a higher voltage charger MIGHT damage the device, but not for sure.
Since here is community i try to participate i thought someone might know more..
I've got a device with power adapter's output: DC 4.9v/450mA.
Yugster offers today for members only(that's why i haven't put this deal out) mobile power backup battery with output: DC 5.5v 800mA.
Would you know if these gonna be compatible?
Thank you all.
Firstly, what sort of connector does this use? USB?
Secondly, what type of device are you trying to charge, and is it a good solid brand?
As you say, it could potentially damage you device, but then again, it might not. For good quality devices, I'd say you'd probably be ok, since there are likely safeguards in the charging circuit to prevent overvoltages and overcharging. For lesser quality items, I'd say it's more of a risk.
thats only 10% over, it should be fine
@videowallart: thank you
@straub: thank you. It's SonyEricsson phone. Special connector, so i guess non-USB
