I mean, they're somewhat known, but Monopoly and You Don't Know Jack. Dating someone who has the WORST reflexes ever we're forced to play games that require thought and not reflex. Monopoly needs no introduction and YDKJ is a gameshow type ordeal that has customized announcers and stuff. It's hilarious. You need to watch a video of some gameplay.

Also, for Xbox Live Arcade, Marble Blast Ultra. It's an arcade game that I think is only $5 now and I've easily put more hours into it than most of my other 360 games. Also, Costume Quest. It's a cute little RPG that'll have you laughing and is definitely worth the money. And N+ on the marketplace. It's an action platforming game with hundreds of small levels with a ninja.

1 vs. 100 Oh how I miss that game.

'Splosion Man in the XBLA.
I think only one other person on my friends list has it but this game is a ton of fun. It's a platformer puzzle game.

The Ghostbusters video game was way underrated. It is one of my favorites, I still throw it in from time to time.
Written by and staring the originals, except Rick Moranis, it's the story of what would have been the third movie had it been made.

@holymythos: I'll have to check out YDKJ. My wife likes the Scene It! trivia games because she knows more about movies and TV shows than I do and can actually beat me. Haven't heard of Costume Quest, so I'll look into that too.

@rhbama13: I've heard of that one, but I didn't know if it was just popular due to the whole zombie gimmick or if it was actually fun.

@wickedd365: I agree, 1vs100 was a good time! By emailing a trivia answer during the show, I was able to win a year's subscription to Last FM. Also, they called me back once to give a shout-out to my brother live on the air! I never did get to be the "one" or even in the mob, but I got all of my achievements!
'Splosion Man was fun for a while, but I don't think I have the patience for it... I kept hitting spots where I died a lot and had to start over. I know you can skip the level after a while, but then it makes you wear that degrading tutu. Thanks for reminding me of Ghostbusters, I played the demo, but never bought it. I reckon I can find it used for cheap now.

EDIT: Also, I'd vote your comments up if I code, but when I try woot claims I haven't bought anything! Lies!

Everyone on my firends list seems to have played Dark Void, but no one can rememeber if it was worth it.

It's not wildly underground, but I would play I <3 Katamari over and over.

Blur (A more strategic Mario Kart racing game)

Stacking (Double Fine Studios makes superb quirky games like this and Costume Quest)

Deathspank (Well-crafted parody of action-rpgs)

Bayonetta (Similar to Devil May Cry; suitable for all skill types, but a varied and deeply challenging action game).

Beyond Good and Evil HD (Awesome action game with good story that never received the credit it was due).

DJ Hero 2 (Guitar Hero reigns supreme, but I prefer this one much more and you can find it frequently for $30 with a turntable included).

Enslaved (Cheap, fun adventure/action with a great visual and story).

Singularity (Interesting twist on FPS formula that is pretty fun).

Hard Corps. (Anime version of Contra; it's old-school difficult)

The Orange Box (Older title, but still a lot of bang for your buck: Half-life 2, Episodes 1 and 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2).

Don't know if you are familiar with any or all, but a few of my favorite overlooked Xbox games.

For some reason I just dont believe you were capable of managing this...

I also feel its just not worth my time/effort to go through them all...

@holymythos: I got my dad to play an old version of YDKJ on the PC and he typed his name in (John) and the announcer (Cookie) said, 'oh so you got one of the apostles to play with you this evening, thats fantastic'
and then the punishment when you buzz in too early and it makes you type the answer is really funny.
Also the bald guy on the front cover reminds me of the lead singer of Live.

Costume Quest was super fun.

Deadly Premonition :D

Plus, it's only $14.99. HOURS of gameplay too. Graphics are...well...not "great." Or "good" for that matter. But it's an awesome game :D

The main Character talks to his imaginary friend Zach. Seriously, you just have to play it. And if you're like most Wooters, you'll appreciate it's sense of humor. It's not a comedic game, but that's what makes it so damn funny. And the game knows this.

There are a bunch of good games, but I'll post a list of 'em when I have time..

metro 20xx i can't remember the last 2# but it's pretty good and not well known, if u like fps

Not really unknown, but very underrated in my opinion: Viva Piñata. It's like Pokemon meets Harvest Moon. Very addicting and fun game, crazy cheap these days :)

vote-for2vote-against

I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES 1N IT!!!1 is pretty fun, especially considering it costs, what, a dollar? Eternal Sonata is another fun one; it's a co-op multiplayer RPG with anime/cel-shaded graphics. The combat system is really cool; turn based, but on your turn it's real time. The story is pretty much garbage (very cliche, from the characters to the plot), but everything is named after musical things (Fort Fermata, a bad guy named Tuba, Count Waltz (pun intended, I think), Polka is the lead character, the list goes on). Very fun way to kill a weekend, but not the best game ever made.

Rez, however, is top of the list. Rez is not, as some will tell you, an unknown game. It is, unfortunately, not widely played. Many many people know of the game, but I really wish more people played it. I bought it the day it came out for XBLA and within six months unlocked all of the achievements and game modes. Rez is a rail-gun shooter with intense graphical and sonic effects, and it's downright amazing.

The whole Indie Arcade catalog is golden.

I've played pretty much every XBL Indie game since before there was an Indie section heh... Back when they were part of the "XNA Creators Club" and you needed an unstable installer to play the user-created games.

Little known fact? "The Dishwasher" (an Xbox LIVE! Arcade game) started out as an XNA Created game. Dunno what happened, but Microsoft bought it into the fold.

^ Proof that we will never see any 5-Star, Triple-A user-created titles in the Indie section - Microsoft will snatch up all of those games and sell 'em in the regular XBLA for 1200MS.

As an RPG Junkie, Costume Quest is definitely a great game. Funny and cute story with characters to match. I was happy when they added a continuation.

Faery: Legends of Avalon was pretty good too. Story was cliche but still cool since they incorporated a lot of known myths. However, the dialogue and was a awkward. Not sure if it was suppose to be that way though.

Light's End was great too if you're into interactive visual novels. Suspenseful and insightful.

chime is fantastic if you like music games.

lost odyssey is a very good RPG that i am actually playing through (again).

if you like card/board type games you might want to look into carcasonne and catan, both are very good and based fairly closely on the board games from what my friend tells me (ive never played the board games).

if you like shooters id recommend looking into rainbow six: vegas 2, its been out for ages and is pretty cheap preowned but still fun to play.

LUMINES! looks like Tetris, but gameplay is altogether different, and the sound is amazing!

I thought they were able to figure out the filter thing over here because I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES 1N IT!!!1 seemed too ridiculous. I'm going to have to download that one.

WET is one of my favorites. It does have a pretty weak story and the gameplay eventually gets repetitive but it still a really fun game because of the acrobatic combat and bullet-time-esque sequences. I have played through it at least 5 times and i've loved every minute of it

vote-for2vote-against

The Sabotuer. It's like a mix of Assassin's Creed and GTA, and set in Paris. One of the few games I still wanted to play after beating it.

TRIALS HD

Gotta try the beautiful, totally fun Trials HD. LOVE IT. So easy to pick up and play.

SHADOW COMPLEX

Shadow Complex just blows me away. It's a side scroller, sorta... Platformer... Spy Game with incredibly unique gameplay, style and graphics. It's just COOL. It's another game that's very easy to pick up and play and you can jam through it, or take your time and figure out all the puzzles. Try it. It's incredible.

vote-for1vote-against

@imtigger2: I have Trials HD. It is fun, but it's pretty challenging. The frustration factor really goes up when I get stuck doing something over and over.

vote-for1vote-against

@rhbama13: I got the zombie game. The soundtrack is both funny and good. Sadly, like most indie games, there are no achievements. There is also no online leaderboard to compare my score with my friends. Definitely no online play. Very short game, but good for a change of pace. Not a whole lot of replay value.

Bayonetta is hands-down the most underrated game I've ever played.

Psychonauts. I know it's for XBOX (After the people who owned the game complained loud enough for long enough, it was eventually made compatible with the 360), but it's probably the best little-known game out there. A lot of the game is spent literally inside of crazy peoples' minds...

Monday Night Combat.

Class based team third person shooter with a tower defense aspect. Kinda like TF2 meets League of Legends. Came out a bit over a year ago and still have a pretty big community for an XBLA game. You can get a free 1 hour demo if you want to check it out, don't get frustrated though, it does have a bit of a learning curve.

vote-for2vote-against

Too Human. I absolutely loved it. It's a third person hack and slash action RPG. It tells the tale of Norse mythology (which is why I love it) but with futuristic technology.

The game was in development for a long time, and people were a bit disappointed with it once it finally released (Duke Nukem, anyone?) but I loved it. The first entry of a supposed trilogy, but Silicon Knights may have run into trouble with the development of the sequels, which would be a shame.

Thanks for the responses, all. Keep 'em coming! So far, from the suggestions, I've only purchased "I made a game with zombies in it" and "You don't know Jack". I'm trying to at least play the demos for the games mentioned here.

@jbilde I wasn't too impressed with the demo for "Too Human" when it first came out. I suppose I can find it for cheap nowadays.

I'm currently playing Alan Wake. Its off the shelf, but had the misfortune of being released the same day as Red Dead Remption. Alan Wake could be a full franchise game for the 360, but Microsoft isn't that smart.

vote-for0vote-against

I specifically thought Allan wake was one of the funnest games that Ive played so far. Another game that i cant get enough of is The Saboteur. Its a ww2 version of assassins creed 2, gta sa, and return to castle wolfenstien. Its totally free-roam and you can drive.
