Can I make the Community Deals search default to most recent?

I find any time I want to search a product or link I want to view the most recent, but it always defaults to best match which doesn't seem to have any reason it's the "best". Wouldn't it make more sense for the default to be most recent or at least most votes?

@meh3884: Agreed. I've posted a few deals after searching only to find they were dupes because I didn't look hard enough/ just didnt see it. Most often I was only beat by 5 or 10 minutes.

I have to say, asking if it's a dupe pre-posting has gotten a lot better, in that it catches things that in my experience it used to not. But this would still be a good alternative to the default of best.

I have though this would be handy for a while, too. Especially when searching to make sure you aren't posting a duplicate. Which is almost exclusively what I use the search feature for. I'd like to see it made default or an option to do so.

Under "Advanced Search" is an option for most recent... But it will not save for your next search.

Not that I know of, but I'd love to hear otherwise. Definitely think it could be better

Geez, why so negative?

You have to vote up more before you can vote down.

Don't get us wrong. Negativity has its place. And downvotes are just as essential as upvotes when it comes to making Deals.Woot a useful place to find deals.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?

See, we do a lot of stuff with your vote, using it to work out the popularity of what you voted for, compare that to all the other things voted on, tally up our leaderboard, work out your reputation.
