Signed it! Thanks for the heads up.

I've been dealing with Chinese internet for the past year, and trust me guys, you do not wanna go this direction!

vote-for8vote-against

@zzzaap: just because he opposes it, doesn't mean he will actually veto it without pressure. It wouldn't be the first time...

Ummm, I don't think he's checking community questions. Maybe if we PM him...

Signed half a dozen of these petitions today. Hope it does some good.

white house release earlier today,

"“… we will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet. Any effort to combat online piracy must guard against the risk of online censorship of lawful activity and must not inhibit innovation by our dynamic businesses large and small.”

@okham: It feels like there are so many jokes you could make about a president skulking in a deals forum, but I for the life of me can't come up with a good one.

@devexityspace: now, why would he NOT veto it with the upcoming presidential elections? I'm not going to even take a guess in how much votes that would guarantee him.

@gideonfrost: One could point out that deals.woot reprents a better cross section of the American populace that the Iowa caucus.

Or maybe that the conversations in the forum are more cordial and intelligent than those in congress. And the voting is less biased - no corporate sponsorship.

@okham: It's funny that you mention Iowa. I actually live in Iowa.

To everybody banking on him veto'ing it: don't forget that the White House had also expressed concerns about the National Defense Authorization Act.

End result: he signed it into law on the 31st of December.

@okham: I tend to skew pretty liberal. So no not this time. I also came with in 10 blocks of the caucus sites and it was a mad house.

@jonnyfunfun: That's what I was referring to with:

"wouldn't be the first time..."

The best bet is to donate millions of dollars to their campaigns. It seems to be working for the corporations.

SOPA has been shelved for now. He can't veto an bill that's not before him. Calm down people, best bet is to write a letter to your congress person and senators (for PIPA). Yes, I said WRITE A LETTER. They take those more seriously than a e-mail that you hashed out in 15 seconds. Paper, pen, envelope, stamp the whole shebang.

If you're curious where your congressperson stands : http://projects.propublica.org/sopa/

Much easier to learn on your local senators and representatives, if enough do it, they will revoke their support for the bill, which will make it so Obama never even sees it.

It's already working, people are pulling out, and this instance of the bill is gonna die, but it will be back. Keep up your protest and keep the internet open!

Edit: @jeremytheindian <-- what he said, lol. I gotta start reading before i type.

@woothulhu: I will learn with all my heart. ;)

@drunkcajun: HA. Apparently my reading comment needs to be applied to my own posts. Glad Friday is almost here...
