Can you believe woot! sold, and met3ora bought, a Bacon Coffin (with $5 shipping)?
In a true stroke of bacon meme death genius, woot! offered up one of the few, the proud, the ridiculously expensive J&D's Bacon Coffin at half price, causing thousands of wooters to laugh and groan and then cringe at the inevitable wait for the product to expire... But then, in what can only be called a move of absolute staggering brilliance, wooter @met3ora stepped in and scooped that coffin right up! Was it the thought of going to the grave in a steel coffin with a premium bacon interior and exterior? Was it the 50% off sale? Was it the complimentary bacon air freshener that J&D's throws in? Was it the $5 shipping? I would LOVE to know!
What do you think?

I was expecting this coffin to be oversized. It would seem the death of someone obsessed with bacon that much would necessitate such a thing.
I'm about 99% positive that this "met3ora" person is a fake and just a name woot made up to finish off the woot off with a metaphorical death of the woot-off. It's the only rational explanation. They put it up and quickly "sold" it so that no one could actually buy it, this way the bacon coffin just sits there and the woot-off is "dead".
I think that with a little imagination @met3ora could be confused with an anagram of hormel. Just sayin'.
The user name should have been 3MTA3
I sure do miss members.woot.com. The best we have now is Google. This mystery bacon-lover has left tracks in one other place on the Woot sites: as the last to purchase this paella pan last Thursday. Infer what you will.
Whomever it is, they beat me to it. I haven't splurged in so long. That was supposed to be mine.
I think I found my new hero.....
I can just see the thought process of @met3ora now: "Okay! I'm determined to be the first sucker on the very next item. I don't care what the item is or what it costs, as God as my witness, I'm gonna be the first to buy it! Ooo! Here it is! Seriously? A bacon coffin? $1,499.99...dang it..." clicks the ridiculously large button
if he used his @jumbowoot! coupon, he could have received free shipping!
@supersox: the next item should be monkeys

Wow, didn't believeit was a real item until I searched it on Google and saw a bunch of articles on it. Apparently it was listed for sale aroundprilfirst so everyone thought it was a joke until j&d ppl said laterthat itwas really for sale.apparrntlyitcomes with a Bacon air Freshener. I don't doubt that soot reallysold one.
**sorry for my fail typing, posting from my tablet and I don't feel like going back and fixiing all the mistakes
Now if only he fills it up with years of Woot-Off! bacon lollipops...
People are dying to get in
At least it wasn't a refurb!
Ah Woot, fulfilling some one's bizarre last wish of "I want to be wrapped in bacon when I go..."
imagine what goes through the UPS guy's mind as he delivers this item
I guess if you had high cholesterol and died of a heart attack it would be appropriate. People could put bacon on your coffin instead of flowers!
Anybody here a Linkin Park fan?
Was the first thing I thought when I remember the name.
But, in the end.. it doesn't even matter.
Absurd. Even more so because it's probably a ruse.
I say it's the guy's couch. He can lie in here to watch TV, munch on his fave bacon snacks and, well, if he drops off at some point, he's in the right place.
You've got to admit it is a drop-dead price!!!
@dracodrago: I choose to believe in the validity of this sale... that someone, somewhere out there had the balls to make such a purchase... beyond that, without debating back and forth about it. This my friends, is a real American hero! lol
site:http://www.woot.com ") met3ora"
Shows nothing beyond the coffin purchase. I too believe it was a ruse to kill the bacon meme, but it was also very clever.
@dracodrago: I agree with you especially since he doesn't appear to have any stats.
@Met3ora has quite a presence on the interwebs. It seems like they are all the same person.
I think that @met3ora just doesn't obsess over Woot like the rest of us and picked up the coffin on a lark. $1499 for an impulse buy with limited use is a bit excessive, but the world takes all types.
People from Massachusetts are weird.Oh,i'm from Massachusetts.
Ive always wondered about those things. Often a single item comes up for a million $, several times it's been a BOC.
Met's on a few other websites. Honestly, this makes me want to ask everyone I know from Mass what really goes on up there.
@dracodrago: Watch out, or we could end up with a witch hunt, like the one @cowboydann started.
I'm pretty sure we'd never make a fake account to block other people from making purchases. What would even be the point of that? If you wanted to give us 1500 dollars, why would we decide to make it harder for you to do that?
@slydon: As long as we can still enjoy lunch on the awesome parking lot!
As I posted in the bacon coffin thread last night, Bacon Coffin posted on their facebook page yesterday that woot bought one bacon coffin around 6PM woot time (Bacon Coffin is apparently based in Seattle, so 4PM for Seattle woot HQ/Bacon Coffin).
Given that timing - relatively late in the woot-off - I suspect that woot staff had much fun with this yesterday.
@lumpthar: We wouldn't want another one of those. That was ugly.
