Like a lot of other stuff here, it's selectively enforced.

vote-for18vote-against

@moondrake: This is fourth in a series of posts. The first three of which were deleted, only the third one was mine. All because the first post was deleted and there was really no reason to delete it.

vote-for13vote-against

So bottom line, no kidding around - it was a thread that included indirect references to a company that may at some point in the near future be a competitor to Woot!

But I think you knew that already.

vote-for14vote-against

@durkzilla: The possibility that they could be a competitor in the future is not a valid reason. If that actually is the reason, it's pathetic and shows that they don't know what they are doing. Now if you said spite, that I would understand. I would still think they're wrong, but it would at least make sense.

vote-for15vote-against

@thepenrod: I'm not judging, just observing.

But I think you're onto something regarding the spite thing. Who knows how things ended for those folks here...

vote-for23vote-against

@durkzilla: Since when is it against any sort of rule (written or implied) to discuss a competitor here?

It doesn't fall under anything on the FAQ (Fah-Q) that was published recently.

You will be silenced. You will be controlled!

vote-for16vote-against

@thepenrod: I feel your pain, but I'm afraid it's a lost cause. Too bad, because we used to have so much fun here.

vote-for2vote-against

@thepenrod Your unexceptional attempt to irritate me from your workshop is not working. Find a better way to contribute. Thank you

vote-for15vote-against

@barnabee: Oh I agree that it's a lost cause. Which is why I'm cool with getting banned.

vote-for20vote-against

@prettywootprincess: meh.

Edit: I've clearly indicated that I'm trying to get banned. I'm not trying to contribute but I admire your efforts.

vote-for15vote-against

@prettywootprincess: Ooooh, you mentioned the "L" word. Watch it, you too, might be (should be?) censored.

vote-for11vote-against

I've been away from the computer and missed a bunch of my posts getting deleted. Coming up with a lot of decent material is difficult. I don't want to duplicate as that won't get me banned.

vote-for14vote-against

Also, I have four children. I'm at home. At the moment, I wish I had a lab.

vote-for11vote-against

Funny tag edit. Is this an official war or just a personal one? :)

vote-for10vote-against

So some of your recent questions were deleted, yet this one remains. That's not confusing at all now, is it?

I do like the tag edit.

vote-for9vote-against

@pitamuffin: Yeah, I thought that was particularly strange as well. Especially since this post is very similar to one before it that was deleted.

vote-for9vote-against

I got nailed too, I had a question about it and it was removed in record time......

vote-for8vote-against

At a guess, they were deleted for being the wrong amount of meta. This one survived because it is exactly the right amount of meta.

vote-for7vote-against

Question to self: Why is it okay for a staff member to mention mediocre and labs? And why are posts/questions using those words made by other members deleted?

Answer to self: Because they can. Rank (!) has its privileges. Others cannot say those words. Heaven knows what harm may come from us, the mediocre, saying anything untoward. Unwritten rule, no doubt.

all questions/topics/posters welcome!

vote-for9vote-against

@durkzilla: You mean like 1 Sale A Day, 13 deals, Daily Steals, yugster and the like?
@thepenrod: wants to be the first.

vote-for16vote-against

Scrolling back through I see that a certain comment was changed to remove the words that cause panic attacks for some in these parts as well as themodded to soemthing else tags.

I do find it ironic that a company that has not fully launched yet is causing such concern at Woot! on a section/tab/part/whatever you want to call it (deals.woot) of it that was designed to post things from/about companies that are/were in direct comeption with Woot!. I understand it was a better idea when Woot! was a true deal a day site but now that Woot! has changed to be a mini-mart version of a larger online retailer things have changed, including rules written and unwritten, rendering this site not as such a good idea (just my opinion from a business standpoint)

vote-for8vote-against

@barnabee: and she was, just not sure if self or someone else did it

vote-for10vote-against

@natedogg828: The censorship at Deals has become so petty; I'd be laughing, but it's too sad.

vote-for10vote-against

@barnabee: agreed {rest of comment redacted by poster due to fear of reprisal}

@caffeine_dude: sad but true when you want to make a valid statement here now and have to carefully word it so it doesn't go poof

vote-for13vote-against

Fear. That's all it is is fear. The irony is that they are afraid of something that is actually called Mediocre Laboratories.

vote-for14vote-against

@thepenrod: But not because it's going to take away their business or kill woot. (they're already well on the way to accomplishing that without any help at all) They're afraid of losing the community, and loyal wooters, ironic eh?

EDIT: that reminds me, I need to go buy them a gift with that $20 gift card.

vote-for6vote-against

Nice. So you've posted half a dozen non-deal related questions in the last few days. None of those were deleted. I guess those questions were a little less mediocre than the ones that were deleted.

vote-for5vote-against

Geez. I take a leisurely little one-week vacation into the semi-wilds of North Carolina and come back to deja vu about questions.

Guess we could just go back to "only strictly deal-related questions" again. Look at all the time we'd save (how long can it take to read three questions a day?) and all the uproar that would be avoided (the sound of crickets has always been peaceful and restful).
