Should I ask the stupid questions anyway?

Well, the black triangle is back. So, should I ask stupid questions (like this!), or should I just rest on my laurels? Also, do fun or funny questions bother you, or do you think it adds to the community?

I think fun questions are great, I think useless questions are annoying. So I guess it really comes down to how each person defines the two.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

As long as asking questions is required to achieve reputation points (btw, I notice you're a black triangle again already) then why not ask away.

As shrdlu pointed out, at this point it's a popularity poll, so I voted your question up because I think you contribute positively to the community and want to encourage you to stay.

I support questions of all flavors. I am an equal-opportunity question partaker.

That being said I do not care about reputation. Perhaps that explains my question ambivalence?

@ loubriccant: Will answer part of your question w/the answer I gave on the link shown above: "When all else fails, ask a question about questions. Works every time." NOT denigrating you at all.

Do I think that fluff, funny, non-technical, chatty questions add to the community? Yes. It draws people in & that's a good thing. Do they bother me? No. I can (& do) skip over any question that doesn't interest me. I, too, am pleased to see you again!

@meh3884: I couldn't agree more. Although, I fully support @gilfent! I've been guilty of the same thing. If it wasn't for the hit to the bank account, it could be fun. I mean, it's great (usually, except for that time with the "Love Ewe") when something shows up the following week, that you have no recollection of ordering. It's kinda like there really is a Santa Claus!

The more important part of my post, to me anyway, is this: "...do fun or funny questions bother you, or do you think it adds to the community?"

I suppose I could have structured the title of the question a little differently, but my question remains unanswered.

Geez, why so negative?

You have to vote up more before you can vote down.

Don't get us wrong. Negativity has its place. And downvotes are just as essential as upvotes when it comes to making Deals.Woot a useful place to find deals.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?
