Was the 'bacon is dead' wootoff predicting the future?
some days, i think woot is psychic. i'll need something and bam!, it's for sale on a woot site. then, i heard this story in the news today:
http://www.latimes.com/business/money/la-fi-mo-pork-bacon-shortage-20120924,0,5901787.story
stock up now! pillage and plunder for all the pork and bacon you can! the end of the (bacon) world is nigh!
Bacon was always dead. If it weren't, it would be a pig.
Everyone come to Brazil! There's so much bacon, among every other kind of meat, we can't eat it all!

just the idea that there will be a bacon shortage is making my head hurt.
@carl669: True. But life is short, and who knows what next year will bring. :)
Regarding the bacon news, I suppose that'd cause a lot of change of eating habits for lots of people. I'm not sure if that's a bad thing.
ermehgerd berkin shertege!
We make and break the trends. I thought you knew this.
That's what I was told, anyway.
@inkycatz: i looked at the current job postings on woot and didn't see anything about making/breaking trends. although i did see something about bringing a shot glass and a Nerf gun for an SDET position (which i'm incredibly tempted to apply for)
YEAH YOU LAUGHED AT US
NOW WHO'S LAUGHING
you better pray we don't come for your favorite meme next because once we make our minds up on a thing it's as good as done
@inkycatz: the problem is, starting next year, i get 4 weeks of vacation at my current job. it's hard to walk away from that.
@carl669: If you're tempted, apply. You never know!
No, not really.
Woot was saying, "Bacon is delicious, but enough with the bacon frosting and shower curtains and scented candles, because it's getting ridiculous and old and maybe there's something else we can all be obsessed with."
This article is saying, "Bacon is delicious but worldwide weather conditions have reduced the supply of grain available, which raises the price of that grain. And since it takes a huge amount of grain to produce a small amount of pork, farmers will be raising fewer pigs."
Seeing as how they posted bacon in the most recent Woot Off, the answer would be no.
Do I need to send Porky away on a "vacation"?
It is an uncanny coincidence. Beware the Aporkalypse!
