I've been trying to buy me a new TV but everytime I find what I want at the price I want it, it sells out or I miss the sale entirely.

I got myself a new tablet at the start of the month but have been using it. I sometimes get something for myself and put it under the tree from the pets. I usually keep two or three generic gifts like boxes of candy wrapped under the tree in case someone unexpected shows up at my Christmas party, so I'll have a gift for them. If no one shows up, I tell people these are gifts from Santa to me. When I am going to make a major purchase, such as my house or a new ar, I often try to do it around Christmas time just to get that feeling of having done something nice for myself.

I dropped a bunch of dollars at a local charity auction for some wine. Does that count?

Santa wanted me to open a bottle or two early. He told me to. So I did, and it was delicious :-).

{It was a red wine, so it was christmassy (yes, that is too a word).}

@nmchapma: Post a challenge for us when you are ready to buy. Tell us what you want and what price point and we can help look.

I had been watching a ceramic coffee grinder on Amazon for a while and when it recently dropped 25% in price, I bought it. I told my wife: "You got me a coffee grinder for Christmas!" and she said: "I did? OK." I'm happy, she's happy, and none of the fussing with wishlists and uncertainty over a specific model or hitting the window of opportunity for a desired price point. Works for me.

I bought myself a very special Christmas/birthday gift--a new toilet seat. It's made by Comfort Seats:Where quality and comfort meet. O tidings of comfort and joy. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Yes, and it was a great deal! I sent in the MIR right away, and will attempt to wait until Christmas to try it out. Sure is pretty though! I got the red one.

I bought a pair of Fit Flop Gogh Clogs in amethyst Suede. I have been regretting for years not buying them for $20 when they were on sale at Macy's. After years of searching I found them on eBay new. I NEVER pay that much for anything but I just had to. I have zero regrets!

I did, too. Bought a friend some wonderful candies from http://williamdeanchocolates.com/ and splurged on a box for myself as well. These little goodies are ritual for our "run away from home" weekends two or three times a year.

(And then -- oh, be still, my heart -- the company goofed up and sent me two boxes. When I panicked and thought my friend wouldn't receive hers, the company prez, a hands-on kinda guy, wrote to apologize, assured me my friend's box had already been delivered, and hoped I enjoyed the second box and had a lovely Christmas. Great company!)

@shrdlu: Yes, it definitely counts. I'm absolutely sure Santa would want you to take special pleasure in it, in fact.

@minkeygirl7: They'll match your kitchen! They look awesomely comfortable, too.

@magic cave: Haha! Not quite as bright as the kitchen. Can you tell I love purple? I have 4 pairs of those shoes. They are great for bunions and arch support. I highly recommend them.

@turbinator42: I bought myself a watch and told my husband he got it for me for Christmas. He was not so happy because he had purchased the same watch a week earlier for more money. Oh well, the one he ordered can be returned so I can shop with the $100 I saved him.

I bought 2 items for myself this Christmas.
1 - a Kindle Paperwhite. Kids will inherit the current Kindle Keyboard :-)
