I was reading about that SD card today on the Sponsored Battery deal here on deals.woot. It's good to see they're owning up to it, but you can't tell me they didn't know it was a knock-off. I mean, they said it came in a plain white envelope.

Someone taking responsibility for a mistake? That's madness!

The financial industry might take a lesson...

Something tells me they saw all the complaints from the battery deal on the sponsored group...

I got the email. I'd noticed that the card was unbranded, but seems to be working fine, so I'll take the credit... good of them to do this proactively.

I'll probably take the credit because it took like a month for the SD card to arrive, so who knows how long it will take for them to send the return envelope, for them to receive the SD card, and finally refund me.

@vbatz89: That's weird. The deal that I got the MicroSD was posted here last week... Took 5 days tops to get to me. Perhaps you are referring to a different SD deal?

I just got my sd card yesterday & got that email today. I opted to keep the card & get a $8 coupon.

@thelarch: You know what, you're right. It was only two weeks ago (My receipt says January 5). I probably got confused because I had also purchased another MicroSD card from somewhere else in December, so I must've mixed the two orders up.

i used the card and it kept cutting off in the middle of file transfers, windows stopped recognizing it a few times. i can't believe they are acting like this is a mistake; if they shipped the wrong cards they should have sent shipping labels to the customers and re-shipped the sandisk cards. truth is, they got caught red handed and IF YOU TAKE THE CREDIT, you are just asking for more headache. It would be like getting food poisoning from a restaurant and they give you free food to make up for it (just like the Simpsons episode with the tainted shrimp and Homer complains and then stupidly accepts the 5 pound bucket of tainted shrimp as an apology).

I'm one to give people a second chance especially when they make a mistake, but this was blatant and since the card is faulty, i'm done with dailysteals.com (the business name says it all, they steal daily; from customers)

FAIL

Has anyone attempted to use the coupon code they sent for the $8 credit? I wanted to use it today, but there's no place to put the code on the checkout page!

No one owned up to their "mistake". You think this "coupon" is in your best interest? With this extra $8 (who knows if they'll actually honor it with their bad history) you'll be on their site everyday, trying to see if there's anything you can buy. Obviously, you can't find anything for just $8; shipping is already $5. So you're more than likely going to be spending more than $8. Win for them. Plus they sold their excess garbage SD cards. Win for them again.

There is NO WAY they sent out the generic cards by accident. THIS WAS PLANNED. This was a marketing scam, getting more customers. Call your credit card company and get your money back that way, false advertisement and report them for fraud.

There is no excuse for false advertisement. It's dishonest and can't be excused, even if the card "works" This one one of many scams by Daily Steals. They're expecting you to just forget about it. a Company rated at 5.6 out of 10, and a BBB rating from "F-" to "no rating" is not trustworthy
