There's a whole thread on the forums dedicated to this ...

My answer: not very often.

An undergrad who works in my lab rolled in wearing "the hangover." We have since discovered a mutual love of shirt.woot, along with similar feelings about the changes.

I did once. It wasn't nearly as cool as it sounded. I was like "hey, woot shirt!" and he looked at me like I had 3 heads. (guessing it was a gift or thrift store purchase)

Turns out all wooters aren't super geeks like us :(

I haven't, but my husband saw someone sporting Donut Panic (which I also own and is why he recognized it) while out of town some time ago. You do know there is a certain phrase you're supposed to say to the wearer when you spot a Woot shirt, right?

@pitamuffin: No, what is the phrase? I felt like there should be a secret handshake or something.

@meh3884: lol, I was afraid that would happen but when I said it he smiled knowingly and then had to explain to his girlfriend what we were talking about ;)

I've been spotted a few times. Twice in two days at a farmer's market in Portland. Maybe wooters are closet hippies.

@okham: I don't remember that shirt. Do you mean The Binge?

vote-for3vote-against

I actually see people in woot shirts pretty often. Probably average around once a week or so.

@captainsuperdawg: Yep, that's the one. I was in the process of moving toward a gin and tonic hangover at the time. :)

I saw someone at an Ohio horror convention wearing Zombie bait we shared a mutual Woot On, and parted ways.

I ran my first marathon last year and saw a spectator with "Think of the Children." I said "awesome shirt" as I ran past. http://shirt.woot.com/Blog/ViewEntry.aspx?Id=11874

The only other wooter I've met in real life was the person who introduced me to the site. It was a classmate who sat next to me in a psyc class. I saw it on his computer once and asked about it because he was on the site all the time before class.

A couple months later I remembered it, or came across it again myself or something, I honestly don't even remember...I made an account and Woot's taken over my life ever since.

I'm still waiting for the day I see someone in a Woot shirt and over zealously say hello and hug them. So long as I don't get arrested, I'll consider the hello a success.

I met another wooter at church one time.

@okham: I'm glad. It would've eaten at me if you meant something different but couldn't think of the name.

I've actually made better friends with people at work who woot, we warn each other of woot-offs on workdays just in case each other hasn't seen it yet.

Every time I wear a WOOT shirt at my school I get comments about it. The very first day I wore one shirt I got so many, "I love that WOOT shirt comments" that I was not sure how to handle the attention!

I actually see a lot of kids at my school with WOOT shirts... ok my school is full of nerds so I cannot reveal the name of the school... but the students are kinda wild here in their own nerdy ways.

@thedogma: Hugs are appropriate if you're wearing this one or this one.

Saw one at Disneyland a couple years back.

I was at the post office picking up a Woot package and a lady spotted the distinctive Woot box and asked what I got from Woot. She had just gotten her Bucky Balls a few days earlier and I was getting my Giant Flying Monkey with a green cape. It was a fun and interesting encounter!

@tippypaws: When you see a Woot shirt, you say "Boss shirt, Boss!" And then the wearer is supposed to reply "I know!" I can only imagine the feeling of elation between the two when that exchange is executed properly.

I guess I'm a loner... I have never seen anyone wear a woot shirt (other than ones I have purchased) . . .
As for meeting a wooter in the wild, again no. there is only one person that I have ever met in person that I know is a wooter, and that person is the one that introduced me to woot. and I have only met him the once. . .

Anyone want to be my woot-friend?

I've seen two wooters on public transportation (one wearing They Call Me Tim, one wearing The Binge) and one at the gas station (can't remember which shirt he was wearing). The only other one I've met in person is my next-door neighbor, who I introduced to woot myself.

I've seen a waiter in a local cafe sporting a P.I.E. Pi shirt, but it was given to him as a gift and he thought I was a nut when I said "WOOT!"

I've seen more than a few on TV shows though...

I think shirts.woot should donate a bunch of shirts to The Big Bang Theory for publicity. I keep looking at their shirts to see if there are any Woot ones, but haven't noticed any so far. So what about it, @Jumbowoot?

vote-for2vote-against

@CES, Woot staffs a booth to interact with vendors. However it is also a magnet for Wooters of all stripes. Hang out there for a while and you can meet a hundred fellow addicts.

I work with about 100 others, all of which woot and have tonsss of shirts, it actually is the only non-work related site that is not blocked... as a work incentive about a year ago, we picked woot to be approved! we all love @jumbowoot !

Mostly during conventions.
