I'm happy, but I wouldn't say I'm super excited. I was bummed when the season was locked out, but I've coped really well. I had pretty much assumed the entire season was gone and had made my peace with that. So the news Sunday was a pleasant surprise.

On a related note, the lack of NHL made me fill the sports void with something new, NFL. I'd never been a fan, but I started watching it and found myself liking it andtuning in more. Unless I'm an isolated case, that is not good news for the NHL. The last thing they need is fewer viewers. (I know football season is almost over, but next year I could see me splitting my viewing between the two.)

I haven't really missed it. I haven't been able to see many games living in Germany anyway so it hasn't affected me negatively. I'm not sure if I'll get Center Ice when I move back to the States this year or not.

vote-for3vote-against

Yes, but not as excited till the players actually take the ice and a season starts to unfold.

Two kids in youth hockey, Plymouth Whalers, U of M at Yost, GLI... when exactly did hockey go away?
Oh, you mean the overpriced pro version. No Winter Classic, no erixdad. To hell with all of them.

@shavelikeaman: Me too. Hadn't followed NFL closely in years (Detroit Lions - need I say more), but I got into a fantasy football league for the first time and didn't miss NHL at all.

Yes. My football team is out of the playoffs, I don't follow basketball, and it's not baseball season yet. I need some hockey.

I'm happy that pro hockey fans will have a season. I'm happy that all the support staff who were out of work because of this will once again have jobs. And I'm happy to have a sport to watch after the Super Bowl, because basketball just isn't my thing.

And expensive as it is, I really enjoyed the Devils game I went to at "The Rock." It's a really nice arena.

Yep, and for selfish reasons - I usually get invited to a game or two a year in a box at Prudential Center, so there's that.

I should be, but I really am to the point that I don't care. This lockout beat me, it killed my interest (this coming from a life long hockey player). I was looking forward to this season as the team I root for had a great year last year, with a group of players I like and made moves in the off season that should make the team more enjoyable to watch. Instead they killed another year, this time for no reason, and made it that I really just no longer care. Great move owners shooting your own product in the foot....then again you brought in a commissioner from the NBA that thought the NHL was just an annoyance that shared his arenas, what did they expect? 3 season gone!

I do wish the World Junior Championships got more press! Great hockey, players playing for the love of the sport not a pay check and team USA had a good team that pulled together an dominated when it counted! Then again how many people here even realized the US won gold at the top amateur tournament in the world?

I'm turned off by all of the BS. Stopped watching MLB when they had a long strike, haven't been back. Probably won't go back to the NHL after the BS either.

Hockey never went anywhere! I've been watching my SPHL Havoc all season!

vote-for2vote-against

What is this Hockey that you speak of?

What really threw me off was not getting to watch my Winter Classic. I guess it's good it is back though.
