Duck Season or Rabbit Season?

vote-for2vote-against

@mkentosh: should have made it clearer - deer season.

Rifle, scope, ammo, boots, knife, and clothing. That's all I need. I've had everything except the ammo for years and years.

@zuiquan: What would make you consider a new rifle/scope combo? Or if it's not broken - do not fix it?

vote-for4vote-against

@webyshops: I might upgrade my scope to a Leupold or Swarovski someday but you'd have to pry my rifle out of my cold, dead hands. I tend to stick with things that work. Once I find something that does what I want it to I generally won't stray.

A week before the season begins, I make sure the ol' deer stand is still in good shape. Sometimes the generator needs maintenance and I usually have to clean out the fridge. Last year, I couldn't run the microwave and TV at the same time, so I've added another circuit breaker. Finally, I'll make sure the motion detecting IR cameras are dialed-in to the right sensitivity for the current brush growth. (moves in the wind)
I'll trek out there, climb on up and watch TV until a motion alarm is triggered. Then I open the window flap and blast away! Pew Pew Pew! Sometimes it's even a deer out there.

Next year, I'd like to add a mobile wifi hotspot, but cell coverage isn't great. I'll have to find some sort of range extender.

deer season started a month ago! Winter coveralls, red wing boots, orange hat, bow/30-06, 45, hunting knife, and an apple

oh and a pre-set stand

vote-for4vote-against

@nmchapma: Yes, but tree cover is an issue. I'd have to mount the dish really high in a tree or something to get a clear view to the South.

@bsmith1: I am jealous. Any plans for a hot tub?

vote-for2vote-against

@nmchapma: Do you carry a thermos or any type of hydration backpack, like Camelbak or Geigerrrig?

vote-for3vote-against

@webyshops: In a tree stand? Don't be silly.

here in Ohio, we can't hunt deer with rifles.. so my cup o tea is the Ruger Super Redhawk .44Mag w/ Red Dot. I'm comfortable taking a shot with it unsupported up to about 120ft..

Wish I could use a rifle....smh

vote-for1vote-against

@webyshops: not for normal saturday morning hunts, if I'm traveling I'll wear a camelbak

vote-for3vote-against

@webyshops: the correct response is "Elmer Season"

vote-for2vote-against

@zuiquan: yea pretty much this, we're always hunting on private land so there's no need for much more than the simple stuff... hunger or thirst can wait for dusk
