Typically all of the "Popular" and "recommended" App's are a good place to start!

I love love love Game Dev Story. It's a sort of strategy/sim game. Totally worth buying.
Router is a good puzzler game.
Drawing Pad is a good doodle/paint-like app
Ethereal Dialpad is a really cool synthesizer based music-making app
G-Stomper is a great drum and track looping music making app
Office Suite is a good office app. Works with all MS Office documents including ppt and also pdf
Wifi Analyzer is a must
Dolphin Browser for web browsing
Get Amazon's Marketplace. It's a separate app store from Google Play and they have a free app every day
Keep Track is a good organizer
Temple Run is the current darling of games and is, in fact, pretty fun
Homerun Battle 3d is a really fun batting game with an excellent online component
