More importantly, why are these so damn expensive!? I've had some metal outdoor chairs with rubber straps, made to use chair cushions, and they're so expensive to buy, I've had the chairs stowed away for the last 3 years. I keep waiting for a sale on them I guess.

I've looked and looked, but never found anything remotely decent in price. I have considered having someone sew some for me.

upholstery cloth is more expensive, partly because it's thicker to support our big butts sitting on them and not tearing the cloth down the middle. outdoor & waterproof cloth ranks up there with that. then combined with the stuffing, it can get up there.

some places are already throwing end of season sales. IMO your cheapest bet is getting them 50-75% off at an end of season sale at any of the major stores. target has already gotten rid of most outdoor stuff and they're ramping up for back to school. or try to hit places like Christmas Tree store, Ollie's, Odd Lots, Big Lots, etc.

World Market has a 50% off sale for outdoor stuff going on now. plus they have cute styles. if there's one near you, go there and also see if anything's on clearance

I was at Kohls and HomeGoods (aka TJMAxx) - they had some decent sales running. I have two chaises with footstools and six chairs all made with the webbing (heavy vinyl). They are an absolute pain to take care of as the webbing that shows from the back has to be power washed for mildew twice a year. Getting back to what you want, I do too but I hate to spend any more money on that set due to the propensity to become filthy. My daily rant.

are you looking for just the seat cushions or for the combined seat & back cushions?

there's a few here, but the colors may not be what you're looking for...the cheapest being $14.98: http://www.pier1.com/catalog/browse/0300.furniture/tabid/519/List/0/CategoryID/985/Level/a/Sort/PriceASC/Default.aspx

If you have a Big Lots nearby, check them. My local one has a great selection from a store chain that closed, and they just discounted a lot of summer stuff, plus their prices are pretty low to start with.

@ae95160: i'm loving the pier1 designs! world market is like the poor man's pier 1, but those clearance prices are awesome

Target seasonal stuff just went 75% off. If there is anything left you might find some good quality items there. But I would hurry, people go nuts when clearance hits the floor.

Do you live in a suburb? Get one from each neighbor, I'm sure they won't notice if you take just one.

My Costco had a bunch. Also had outdoor throw pillows to coordinate, all weather resistant.

If you have an IKEA near you I'm sure they have something.

@kbrennan805: i tried searching on their site but didn't see any in northern NJ. not sure where you are but click on the link i posted and choose "Store locator" and enter your zip.

i saw kmart now has 30% off outdoor cushions in store. everyone's getting rid of their inventory and stocking back to school. it's a great time but if you wait til September everything will be gone
