What’s with this SSD thing?
So, Amazon’s Gold Box deal today is for 2.5” SSD’s for less than $1.00 per GB. Our family is in desperate need to replace our laptops (all 5+ years old), but the minimum amount of space I would even consider is 480GB ($379). Is this a total waste of dough? Do the SSD’s offer 3-5 times more speed as advertised? A decent laptop can be had for $600-700 with 1TB and 6GB memory (albeit with Win 7).
The question: Is it worth it to upgrade a 5 yr old computer with SSD at today’s prices or wait for the Windows 8 PC’s to come out and snag a couple of deals?
The last time someone asked about SSD being worth it was a year ago....times and prices have changed. Thanks for your feedback!!!!
