Laptop, what's the right memory size?
I'm ready to replace my good old laptop by something newer. I picked a 15.6 screen size with webcam, bluetooth but I'm stuck with memory sizing.
It goes anywhere from 1Gb to 8Gb and prices from $500 to $3 zillions...
My budget is flexible but I don't want to pay for something I don't need. Mainly the laptop will be used to work and use presentations, some can be quite large, if not it's web browsing, video calls, word, excel and a little bit of image/picture editing.
Thanks.

i've got 2gb in my 4 year old laptop. i find it's plenty of memory for everything i do (including light photo/video editing).
I always recommend that you get more than the minimum requirements for the OS that you will be running.
These days, I'll say 4gb is the minimum you really want to consider, as it's not just for use today but for next year too. 8gb is nicer still, and memory isn't too expensive if you add it yourself.
What laptop are you considering anyways? Perhaps one of us could find a better deal for something comparable.
Memory is always a "the more the merrier" sort of thing.
I'd suggest no less than 4g, but if you can afford it look for one with more or at least a free expansion port.
Absolutely no less than 2GB, highly recommend 4GB, anything over that is probably overkill unless you're doing high-intensity gaming or video-editing type stuff.
