What size hoodie do I need?
Using the sizing chart for the hoodies doesn't make sense to me. Based upon the chest measurement, I should buy a small. However, I'm a 42"-44" chest in normal jacket sizing, and the comments I've seen about the hoodies running small have me concerned. Can someone give me guidance on this? Should I get an XL?
The lightweight hoodies run small (tight); the fleece hoodies they're selling right now are regular sized. I actually size down ... ML for the shirts, MM for the hoodie.

I agree with @narfcake, I usually buy MXL t-shirts, but could comfortably wear a ML hoodie. I still order MXL anyway because I like to have extra room in them.
Can a female hoodie wearer please chime in? I'd love to hear some one say, "I wear a size 8 and the lightweight medium fits tight/loose/etc..." or something along these lines. I can't for the life of me figure out what size to buy. The women's shirts are a real gamble right now and I doubt the men's are any better.
Thanks, Narfcake. It sounds like Large would be the size for me, then!
@lavikinga: I'm plus size, my bust runs 44" give or take a donut. At 44" with a thick waist and broader shoulders, the ML hoodie is a bit tight across the chest - not tight but snug. The MXL is baggy, but not ridiculous. So, if you like your hoodies a little snug, go with ML, if you like them baggy and loose - MXL.
ETA - Sorry, just realized that your sizing is probably vastly different. If you know what size you are in a Men's woot shirt - and you want your hoodie to be comfy (and you aren't battling lager than average hips) stick with the same size that you wear in shirts. If you want a baggy - size up. YMMV
So if my shirt size is MM and I like snugger fitting hoodies I should definitely get MS for the hoodies?
@lavikinga: I don't know if this is helpful, but I am a size 4-6, 5'2" ~125 lbs and I ordered a small lightweight hoodie which fits fairly closely/snuggly. I generally order MS in t-shirts. The small pullover hoodie I bought earlier fits loosely.

@lavikinga: I wear a size 10 (or 12 in tops sometimes because I'm rather blessed). I have a large lightweight hoodie and it is slightly loose, but I feel as though the M would be too small for me to be really comfortable in. I like it loose though. If I wanted it to be a fitted look, I would go for a M.
@lavikinga: I'm... small. 0P/2P? I wore a WM (AA); the WS was fine lengthwise, but was a bit tight across the bust. I have both small and medium hoodies. I feel like they fit about the same width-wise, but the small hoodie is shorter; it ends at the top/middle of my hip, while the medium pullover hoodie covers my rear end, which is the fit that I prefer. I wear the small hoodies, especially with skirts, but for that "it's a chilly day, I'm tired, and I want to lose myself in a fleecey hoodie" feeling, I prefer the medium.
What about the zip-ups? Aren't they different from the pullovers in regard to size/fit?
@jsimsace: I think they are a little smaller
@neuropsychosocial: @mkdr: @teevoo: @thumperchick: Now THIS is some helpful information AND with photos! Looks like I fall in between you girls, wearing an 8/10--long arms/bigger rack and on the tall side. The men's medium for the light weight hoodies will probably be best for me.
There's a pie hoodie that needs to come live with me! Thank you for all your help!
