What was your favorite console cartridge game (NES,SNES,Genesis, etc.)?
Remember those consoles from your childhood, what one did you enjoy most? The standard franchises, the bizarre one off's, the ones no one knew about. They were worth hours of fun, and sometimes hours of frustration.
You can't go wrong with the original Legend of Zelda in my opinion.
Well, young whippersnappers, I spent a lot of time playing Paperboy. Kids today would find it very lame.
Chrono Trigger.
Zelda and Contra. up up down down left right left right b a start.
I would have to say the Mario Kart on the SNES got the most play from me and my cousins. Super Mario 3 on NES would be a close runner up though.
secret of mana + kirby superstar + yoshis island for snes
mario kart and mario 64 for 64, with a little bit of starfox
NES- mario 3 and the sidescrolling zelda game, was it called the adventure of link or something? i dont remember
@pitamuffin: Paperboy was effing hard.
Goldeneye & Ocarina of Time
Tecmo Bowl,
Raiders,
Bo Jackson & Marcus Allen
N64: Super Smash Brothers - Great game to this day
Zelda: Link's Awakening on original Gameboy. So many hours playing that.
I love them all, but the N64 was my poison. So many cool, new, innovative games. Some of the best games ever are on that system. Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Super Smash Brothers. I wasn't a fan but i better list it so I don't flamed, Goldeneye. Wrestling games were a blast on N64. Nothing will top WWF No Mercy IMO.
Still mad that someone stole it.
Tecmo SuperBowl on NES
Toejam and Earl

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars without a doubt <3 my SNES
I also liked Terminal 2 or other 'scope' (http://thenintendard.tumblr.com/post/9407510791/the-super-scope) games :)
SNES is really the console to go with. Link to the Past, Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy 3... I mean, new consoles are great, but there is that missing piece that made these games just in a league of their own. You can take your high end graphics and sound, I want my great gameplay and storyline.
the dual pak with Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros for NES. Mario Kart for both the SNES and the 64 got a lot of play, too
Count me as another vote for Zelda, but Contra is a close second.
Legend of Zelda on the Super NES is my all time favorite. I can still go back and play it today, and enjoy it.
Atari 2600 - Megamania, Joust, Pitfall, and Yarrs Revenge.
Battletoads - NES
Excite Bike - NES
Mike Tyson's Punch Out - NES
Super Mario 3 - NES
NBA Jame - SNES
I can't pick just one... I have all my old systems hooked up and play all my old games on a regular occasion... all 300 (about) of them
Chrono Trigger on the SNES
Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the N64
hmm...Mario 3, Sonic 3, Goldeneye or Diddy Kong Racing.
Captain Skyhawk on the NES and Turtles in Time on the SNES.
B-17 Bomber and Pitfall on the Intellivision!
Genesis followed by N64. I loved NHL 92 on the Genesis!
My Atari 2600 circa 1981 in the eyes of myself as a 5 year old did far more for me than the other two consoles later in life.
Mega Man X
Mario Kart on SNES and Goldeneye on N64 were my favorites.
ET for the 2600, of course. Something very Zen and calming about repeatedly falling in to wells to seek out Reese's Pieces.
On the NES, my favorites were River City Ransom (which I play now on virtual console on my Wii) and Shadow of the Ninja. Deja Vu was another on my list, along with Monopoly. The latter was the first NES game with synthesized voice sounds, and also the first game I paid $50 for brand new in a store.
Atari: Pitfall
NES: Super Mario Brothers 3
SNES: I never owned one but I'd say Chrono Trigger
Sega Genesis: NBA Jam
N64: Goldeneye
I figure I'll throw in GBA because I still use it from time to time..
GBA: Final Fantasy Tactics
Double Dribble
Shining Force (Genesis RPG)
Twenty-one answers and not a single mention of Pokémon Red/Blue. My heart is breaking...
Dragon Warrior 1!
Metroid Fusion for GBA was awesome, Crono Trigger is unmatchable, I love Tetris Attack for SNES and Earthbound too, on the NES it has to be Mario Bros 3 and Ducktales. Pokemon (all of them) for the gameboys and I didn't get to play Sega games as a child, so that's out for me.
n64 - Goldeneye, Super Smash Bro., Star Fox 64, and the mario party games
SNES - Contra 3
NES - Mega Man 2 or the Super Mario Bros Duck Hunt combo
What's up with this "was" business??
On the NES: Didn't have one, but I remember having a blast with multiplayer Gauntlet 2. Most of the NES games I've played are within the last couple years, when I bought an NES and a library of games.
SNES: This was really my system. The Donkey Kong Country games for action (Metal Warriors was a GREAT game though!) I'm torn on RPGs. Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana top my list. I've only played Link to the Past relatively recently, but that's a darned good game too.
Genesis: I've fairly recently fallen in love with Ecco. Earthworm Jim was great too.
N64: Mario 64, Goldeneye, and Starfox for action, the Zelda games for...well, I was gonna say RPG, but I guess those are kinda actiony.
Game Boy: Link's Awakening, Pokemon, TETRIS. A thousand times, Tetris!
Super Mario Bros. Hands down legendary.
@capguncowboy: did you really just put excite bike in there....
NES - Megaman 1, 2 and 4, super mario bros. 1, and the toughest and my favorite - Ninja Gaiden.
PC - Final fantasy 7 and 8.
I spent HOURS playing Kirby's Pinball on gameboy
Super Dodgeball for I think it was SNES was by far my most favorite as a kid.
Today I still enjoy playing Super Mario Bros 3.
It has and forever will be the very first RPG I ever played - Crystalis, on the original NES. I still get an urge to play it now and again.
Thankfully real life didn't play out like the game, as the world was supposed to end in October of 1999. :)
NES was my first console and I loved Zelda, Mario 3, Crono Trigger, Super Dodgeball, Excite Bike, but my personal favorite was Defenders of the Crown.
I used to love Pro Wrestling on NES. Had an Atari 7200 and spent hours playing Dig-Dug.
famicom - dragon ninja, ninja kun, battle city
snes - chrono trigger, secret of mana, final fantasy 3
good times, good times
All the Sonics and Humans.
@mcullers: There is only one R in Yar's. And that game kicked my butt. And it always left me wondering, why is this mosquito named Yar, and why is it so angry? And for that matter, why was there no prequel so we could make Yar angry enough to seek revenge?
@mcullers: Yay Megamania! Loved that game.
@lparsons42: E.T. on the 2600 - Worst Game Ever! The music whenever you would get stuck, over and over.
