Burgers or Hot Dogs?

It's the 4th of July! I'd say it's safe to guess that many of you will be outside grilling??

Which of these classic, American, summer meals will you be enjoying today? If not today, which one do you prefer? Do you have a favorite place to grab 'em, or do you like grilling your own, most of the time?

Personally, I'm a burger guy. Going to try and find a place to get a good burger today. Santa Catarina has lots of Burger Kings and McDonald's, but hopefully I can find something a little more enticing :)

@107bear: me too. But if I had to choose, med-rare burger with everything in it. Yum. No bun, just meat and fixings. :)

Burgers for me, made from ground beef from a local farm, cooked on my grill with fresh bakery buns, ranch dressing, and Tony Packo's Pickles.

@okham: Cutting back on the carbs? I have to have buns for both toasted toasted on the grill for the 4th, any other day I can cut back and go without the bun.

@okham: I'm the same way - generally one of each if offered but if I have to choose juicy burger med-rare, preferably with smokey cheddar and some bacon.

My house will be serving hot dogs, bratwursts, barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad, and watermelon, with fresh mint limeade (to which the adults can add rum and make mojitos). That's what I'm providing, the 30-40 guests that are coming will be bringing a random assortment of other goodies.

There was talk about frying a turkey - no joke! It didn't last long, but I was surprised my family entertained the idea for as long as they did.

We're going burgers for lunch, but I'm going to break the mold for dinner and do pollo asado tacos with guacamole. I'll be doing this at a park on a Smokey Joe BTW.

I made my special burgers today, Chopped up Peppers and onions a 1 jalapeno real small add it the neat along with some of k-Pauls seasoning and a dash of chili powder to give it life.

I usually end up with extra hot dog buns due to the kids wanting hot dogs bun-less -- so, I cook up a couple of hamburger patties shaped long and flat to fit the extra buns. I like them better because they are easier to handle.

Oops! I forgot the star of the show: Homemade ice cream. I haven't had the ice cream maker out in 10 years, but i am making ice cream today. So it will be hot dogs, bratwursts, barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad, watermelon, and homemade ice cream, with fresh mint limeade (to which the adults can add rum and make mojitos). Plus the pot luck dishes the others are bringing.
