questionswhy do i keep losing my voting abilities?

I just stopped trying and the next day I got on and it was fixed. Luckily I had some awesome people voting up my zero comments and questions so that it didn't penalize me too bad.

@danpalm: The developers tend NOT to notice questions like this if you don't make the effort to give them a call. Remember, doing it in the question doesn't really invoke them, either. Make a question (as you did), noting the problem, and then yell for help like this (but quietly):

@josefresno @shawnmiller

Those two should be plenty. I think I recall JoseFresno saying that they were working on a more permanent solution. That would be lovely.

Yes, a permanent solution would be great. What causes this to happen in the first place?

@oheifearnain: If the system can not verify that you have at least one purchase, it will not let you vote. This is a safety measure to keep new users from gaming the system. One of the servers occasionally can not verify valid wooters, kinda like a chaos monkey is rampaging around the servers:

We are aware of this issue, and are working on it.

Had this happen a few days ago. I thought it was strange, but was fine the next day when I tried.

vote-for1vote-against

answer:
we discovered you voted for Obama. No more voting for you.

vote-for1vote-against

@josefresno: i'm having the issue now for some reason. i've refreshed multiple times, tried a new tab, tried a new browser window, logged out and back in.
i can't vote on comments or deals. i was able to earlier tonight and yesterday. even a minute ago i could, but now POOF

if i refresh, shouldn't i be hitting another server? i don't like this one i'm stuck on now. DO NOT WANT

and hey look at that, my comment shows as 0 woots. i always get my self-woot of 1
@shawnmiller

vote-for1vote-against

ok seriously, i want to click on stuff to vote on it. i like voting, more than i like commenting. i think i'm addicted. i find myself wanting to woot-vote on regular woot.com sometimes but that's not possible
@josefresno @shawnmiller
can you guys get me on the other working servers? i want to vote

vote-for2vote-against

Normally this caching issue shows for other people, and not just for one. @jumbowoot, is there something up that affects others, or are we all just mad at @w00tgurl, and no one sent me the memo on why?

vote-for1vote-against

@shrdlu: wootbot and i go way back, that bot wouldn't go and rat me out like that. unless you're saying that @wootbot was the one who took away my voting, and by doing so it's exposed itself as now being sentient.

vote-for2vote-against

@w00tgurl: Mostly I said it because it was funny; also, that was about the time you seem to have lost your voting. I note that your join date (according to the magic bubble) is today, but looking at http://members.woot.com/w00tgurl says 2007. I've seen this one before, too.

@josefresno @shawnmiller (just in case this datapoint is useful to you).

vote-for2vote-against

@w00tgurl: Oh, that's just funny! If you look at the leaderboard, you'll note you are at the top on Reputation. :-D

vote-for1vote-against

@shrdlu: that is quite a feat if i just joined today and i'm at #3 already. it could've been that question i posted 2 days ago (before i joined) that went popular from a lurker posting. sounds like a bad movie. it just means i need to get off the computer

i also just happened to redeem my free woot tshirt yesterday right before it rolled over to today's. could that be it somehow?

@josefresno @shawmiller can you guys fix my profile? i joined a long time ago and i've bought woot items before. my profile says i joined today and i haven't bought anything.
what's that CEO's email again? hmm

vote-for2vote-against

@w00tgurl: It's nothing to do with your profile. If you look at the members link I posted, you'll see that everything is normal. It's a caching error, and only reflected in that mouseover thing, which is not interacting correctly with the stored data that Woot has on you.

Invoking snapster will have ABSOLUTELY no effect on getting this fixed. Remember, he sold it all to Amazon. I've already invoked JW, and we've both poked the developers plenty. I suppose we could just drag in @dave bug for grins, but I doubt it'll get things fixed any faster.

vote-for1vote-against

@shrdlu: maybe if i... cry? :'-( ,,,,,{}

that is me crying girl tears and a stream of tears flowing to a puddle of tears. that should do it

vote-for2vote-against

IT'S FIXED! for me at least! the girl tears worked

now to go on a voting spree

vote-for2vote-against

@w00tgurl: I'll bet it wasn't the tears. It may just be that someone finally bounced a caching server. Still, I'm happy for you. Go fix all your zero woot comments.
