I was all set to add more classical music to my collection (I prefer CDs to downloading MP3 stuff), but then I saw this:

http://deals.woot.com/deals/details/42b37056-11b8-4903-a23d-170b59547aad/transform-best-buy-gift-cards-into-amazon-gift-cards

Brilliant! Now, if I visit Best Buy, and there's nothing I want, I just buy an Amazon (or other) gift card, and life is fabulous!

If I had a gift card from Best Buy, probably a backup DVD burner or maybe a game.

A nice, new blu-ray player. :)
(Granted, I will have to chip some more money in, but it is definitely worth it!)

My youngest got an iPod Touch (that I bought from Sellout.Woot!) for his birthday - used the gift card to buy him a case and iTunes gift card to complete the Woot! birthday experience for him.

Assuming mine is on the way, I'll be converting it to amazon bucks.
Probably going towards a new tv, or a large freezer.

Booo!!! They deleted the deal that about swapping out gift cards. Oh well, it wasn't really a deal, but if someone wants to clean up this question, they could go swap out the link above to just say something like "link removed, because the deal is gone" or similar. All the deal was doing was pointing out that if you couldn't find something you wanted in Best Buy, you could use your gift care to buy a gift card. I'm pretty sure I'll come out of Best Buy with an empty gift card (although I'd like to leave a dollar or two on it so they won't want to take it, and then I'll put it with my label that I cut off the box from the surprise BOC, where we all got special fun names). Yeah, I'm goofy like that.

@shrdlu: Yeah I saw they removed the gift card deal. Made me sad since it was by far the most votes I've ever gotten from a deal. I'm posting this speculation here because I figure if they want to scrub this question from the references, they can just delete them all at once easily.

I don't think I ran afoul of any of the Deals.woot rules, but I can't help but speculate why it was removed. Maybe someone tattled it "wasn't really a deal" since both gift cards have the same value? Maybe it was more nefarious, and Best Buy complained? Perhaps they had given the gift cards to Woot as a thank you for all the referrals, and didn't want them spent like that.

Oh well!

@novastarj: I so wish that the lightbox from the reply didn't work so hard to cover up the comment I'm trying to reply to. That said, I'd ramp the paranoia down just a touch. What you posted was sweet, but would have been more appropriate as a comment on the (really LONG) thread about the card, or a question of your own, appropriately tagged with #chat. I think that noting it here is plenty.

It wasn't a deal. It was a description of one way that people who didn't find anything in Best Buy could convert their card into a gift card. BB has a zillion gift cards (I looked), and it's a pretty cool idea.

The rule you ran into was that it wasn't a deal. I don't think there was a plot, and I find it unlikely that BB complained (or even noticed). They make money when you buy a gift card. Trust me in this. It was a very thoughtful thing to post, but here on the Questions side is better.

I'd still bet that nearly all the recipients can find plenty in BB that will make them happy. I know I can.

Hmmmm I got a DSi a while back and only have 1 game for it so I'd probably gnab a new game.

@shrdlu: You're almost certainly right. Fact is, it wasn't a discounted item in any way. Just an option that people might not notice otherwise. Hence "not really a deal." Vast conspiracy theories are more fun though.

I almost posted it to Questions, except it seemed more like a statement than anything.

Either bad movies or a 3DS game. Wish I had this 2 weeks ago when I bought a new GPS

I am considering:

-a kindle
-a netgear wndr3700 router
-an lg optimus v phone for virgin mobile

@abramokids: crap hadn't even considered a 3ds. But I will probably wait on that a few more months.

the pricing in general at BB makes me sad, so i'll probably convert it to Amazon cash, assuming my card is still on it's way...damn you, crappy rural USPS!

@smtatertot13: I'm so excited to get mine but yeah :( Not yet.

I may save it for black friday.
I may buy xbox live points or subscription to xbox live.
Since I live in california, where by law stores have to redeem gift cards under $10 to cash, I may see about buying 5x best buy gift cards and then redeem those for cash. I've done that several times with target gift cards I've received for christmas/birthday.
