questionswhat commercials do you find the most annoying?

Not around anymore, but my vote is for: Head On, Apply Directly to the Forehead

vote-for12vote-against

Yep, anything with Flo from Progressive.

That new Staples or Office Deopt (I don't even remember) commercial with that blond lady and Nick Cannon is beyond obnoxious. I want to punch her.

vote-for8vote-against

Those damn Cars.com commercials with the confidence. They are super annoying and the one with the lady sitting at the desk is super creepy.

Geico has been run into the ground. Time for a revamp guys.

McDonald's. They are trying so many different commercials to fit every race and it's annoying.

vote-for9vote-against

Old Navy. Any commercial they have made in the last 15 years or so is just horribly annoying!

vote-for36vote-against

ALL political advertisements. enough said.

vote-for3vote-against

Any commercial where the intent is to trick me into giving them my money when I otherwise wouldn't.

vote-for5vote-against

Mitt Romney singing 'America The Beautiful'.

vote-for6vote-against

I'm probably way out in left field here, but on top of all the others that have been mentioned, I hate commercials for tv shows. Especially complex shows with plot arcs. I mean, who are they trying to get to watch it? First time people? Do people really just jump into Breaking Bad or Walking Dead or something else in the middle of the show's run? Or are they geared for loyal fans? If so, I'm pretty sure that 99% of the fans know exactly when your show is gonna start. No need to run commercials for it.

But hey, that's just my two cents.

vote-for8vote-against

I dislike the Geico gekko.

And, I find the "music teacher" in the new Target ads a bit creepy.

vote-for6vote-against

HANDS DOWN: zooey deschanel cotton commercial. horrible

vote-for7vote-against

Hardee's, with their fake Alyson Hannigan wannabe.

vote-for8vote-against

@captainsuperdawg: I'm with you on the commercials for tv shows, but for a different reason. I watch a lot of shows on USA, and DVR them all. Sometimes I will be three or more weeks behind on one or more shows but caught up on another. The commercials for the other shows often have spoilers in them as to what happened in the episodes that I haven't watched yet. It has gotten so bad that I try to watch them all in time with each other rather than catch up on one all at once (which is my preferred method of viewing).

vote-for4vote-against

Oh and the other commercials I can't stand - KitKat. I hate listening to the sound of people eating, and those commercials are basically a celebration of the sounds of KitKat bars being broken and eaten. I will not buy them because I hate the commercials so much. On the flip side, there are products when given a choice and all else is equal, a good marketing campaign will win me over for sure.

vote-for9vote-against

That obnoxious kid who wants a treat at the grocery store, and says "PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE" all the way through the store, which is all capped off by his mom buying him a treat. I want to smack them both.

vote-for5vote-against

Besides political campaign ads probably either geico or nationwide insurance commercials.

vote-for7vote-against

The Subway sandwich commercials where the people talk in baby voices. Is there a point to that?? Also the McDonalds commercials for sweet tea (or just about any McDonalds commercial).

vote-for8vote-against

Any of the iPhone commercials that make SIRI appear to actually be able to quickly respond to your query. Then Geico, I hate that lizard - plus that squeeling pig thing

Finally, I don't know if this is national or not, but "Pat" from Toyota is annoying as heck. On the radio they have a spot where he leaves a message on his answering machine (not voicemail, answering machine) where he explains he's not home because he's out having fun with his toyota. Having to listen to the phone ring and pick up over the radio is annoying as it gets.

vote-for6vote-against

Does it have to be a television commercial?

1 8 7 7 KARS FOR KIDS
K-A-R-S KARS FOR KIDS
fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-...

vote-for5vote-against

Oh yeah, forgot about that new Ragu one.
I know we had a thread on it, but man is that commercial dumb and messed up.

vote-for4vote-against

I can't stand the new MediaCom ads with the spokesperson, loosely modeled after Flo, who looks like she's been pillaging Ugly Betty's closet for clothing. Or maybe she just found Sally Jessy Raphael's glasses.

vote-for4vote-against

@jethroop369: Talk about bad regional ads, channel 8.2 (KCCI in Des Moines, IA) has one for Pyramid Roofing. It's oddly nonsensical and flat out stupid. And yet I can't forget it. Yarg!

vote-for4vote-against

My detested list of commercial

Any "AXE" commercial - apparently aimed at randy young morons

The "long lasting gum" commercials - you know the spit it out ones. Really Annoying, but can't remember the name of the product. Either way would not buy it.

vote-for9vote-against

Any and all the LOUD commercials, where the volume level jumps by several decibels, annoy me the most.

vote-for2vote-against

The Sonic commercials with the people in the car.

vote-for10vote-against

I wanted to add several more I forgot about.

1. JG Wentworth
2. Any commercials about reverse mortgages
3. Western Sky Loans
4. Cash4Gold

vote-for4vote-against

@jnissel: Thank you for bringing up JG Wentworth. Just how many people out there are getting structured cash settlements and want to collect the money up front? Considering all the money this company must spend on ads it's a sure bet they're going to rip you off big time. Granted, it's a safe assumption they'd try to do that anyway, but if there are other companies doing the same thing you can probably get a better deal from the one that doesn't spend millions on ads.

vote-for4vote-against

I just heard the 877-CASH-NOW (JG Wentworth) commercial for the upty-zillionth time and ran over here to add it to this thread...too late. I get so annoyed when that jingle gets stuck in my head :-(

Another one where I have to mute the TV is the one where the guy says his dog's name is Cornelius and he invented long division. I don't even know what he's selling but I hate the sound of his voice.

Also mentioned above, the stupid "It's Depot time" commercials. gack

vote-for7vote-against

Anyone with the squealing pig from Geico. I don't understand their belief that such an annoying and aversive stimulus would draw new customers. For me and other non-Geico people, the comercial has made us life-long, dedicated, never-to-be customers. For people who I know are considering Geico or are Geico customers, they are such or drawn to the products simply by price. I vote with my dollar$$ and buying products/services [including listening to their commericals] from a company ensures its continued existence. I would rather pay a little more to a company that gives me the facts and backs that with service, rather than getting the bare-bones rockbottom price and, as a negative fringe benefit, help a company survive that puts out such irritating crap.

vote-for5vote-against

It seems like they're playing that Dell commercial with the girl who wants to fly every five minutes here. The music (Be Brave by the Strange Boys) stays in my head and drives me crazy. I've always liked Dell computers in general, but this commercial helps sway me toward another brand.

vote-for5vote-against

For annoyance factor: The Ball Park hot dogs commercial that feature a bunch of men getting in a petty argument about baseball stats with the slogan "men: easier fed than understood".

For sheer unbridled "I can't believe you're even trying this": The payday loans commercials starring Octomom. Of all the people to trust on financial advice...

vote-for4vote-against

Political commercials (thank god NY doesn't matter in the Presidential election... it almost makes up for the fact that I am disenfranchised).

The rest of the time, I think car commercials are the worst, at least in a general sense.

vote-for3vote-against

I have to agree with @jkaleda on this one. Political ads just chap my a$$.

vote-for5vote-against

To be honest, I dislike almost all the advertisements shown.

I usually just leave my room for a bathroom break or check my e-mails and websites when a commercial comes up.

I agree with everyones post above; insurance commercials, cellphone services, cash for gold/cars, etc.

To be honest, I think Progressive has the most commercials.. or they just stand out so much.

Someone that hasn't mentioned yet; if you have/take this [insert medical drug/diagnosis here] then call this [insert law firm here], animal cruelty (which IMHO is the saddest thing ever), and kids bop is there somewhere.

Don't think I've seen a campaign commercial yet, but I could add that too though.

vote-for4vote-against

All advertising is awful, but I hate the ones that expect the viewers to be effing idiots...

Most recently, the 5 hour energy commercials where they attempt to make you think that 3000 doctors recommend their product. They don't connect the doctors recommendation to their product, but as a viewer, they expect you to and then by the crap they sell.

My other pet peeve is after 3 minutes of commercials you get 15-30 seconds of 'this show is sponsored by....'

vote-for4vote-against

@mschauber:

You and I think alike on this one as I saw that 5 Hour Energy ad last night on Hulu and came back here to post a comment about it and ask a question of the people that have seen it:

Let's assume that the woman is speaking truthfully. With that assumption, how many MEDICAL doctors does she say actually ANSWERED the question and recommended the product?

It could be zero (and probably is). If anyone disagrees, they should probably go watch the commercial again and actually listen to what she says.

vote-for2vote-against

Another commercial I don't like is the Toyota commercial where someone is sitting in a chair, in their house and all of a sudden a wall opens up and the chair starts moving on it's own, through the open wall into a Toyota dealership.

That commercial brings to mind two things; first your chair is moving and you're not able to control or stop it...sort of like the problems Toyota had with their cars accelerating on their own a few years ago. The second things is the commercial makes it seem as if we're all stupid. We're not able to find auto deals/sales on Toyota unless we're forced into their showroom.

vote-for2vote-against

Depot time. (Office Depot)

And there's a local car dealer that seems to think putting their toddler and grandma together in a commercial will somehow be good.

vote-for1vote-against

any and all ads from law firms. Whether they be for class action suits over "bad drugs" or medical devices or asbestos, or ambulance chasing asshats who wonder if you've been in a car accident. I want them ALL to die a slow painful death from rectal cancer when I see their ads.

Western sky loans is also annoying, sit down and do the math and you'll see the interest rates can be around 1,000%.

zestra/enzite and the rest that promise a better sex life or larger penis. Why oh why do the people who believe their pitch actually have just as much right to vote as the rest of us?

vote-for1vote-against

I think it's Cialis where various couples glance at each other and suddenly they're on a beach or somewhere supposedly romantic.

vote-for1vote-against

The WE BUY GOLD commercials are horrendous especially the ones that are family owned with all the family standing there looking like idiots.

vote-for1vote-against

ALL commercials are annoying.

vote-for0vote-against

I can't stand that 5-hour energy commercial either. Drives me nuts. "75% said they'd recommend A low calorie supplement", not YOUR supplement, but A supplement. That and that damn smug, mocking look that leisure suit wearing lady has on her face at the end. One of these days she's going to hear me yelling shut up at her through the TV.

vote-for0vote-against

@wootferret: You can't deny the awesomeness of the Terry Crews Old Spice Commercials or the Snickers Feast commercials...can you?

vote-for0vote-against

IRRITATING COMMERCIALS ARE:
V-8
KIT KAT
CATHETORS
VIAGRA, CIALIS
ROSLAND GOLD
MESH OR SLING
ANY WHO HAVE PEOPLE CRYING - I won't buy or donate to any of the phoney tears products
REVERSE MORTGAGE COMMERCIALS
COMMERCIALS THAT REPEAT AND REPEAT AND REPEAT......

vote-for0vote-against

NOW, HUMANA HAS A SWEET COMMERCIAL...I LIKE IT.

vote-for1vote-against

@msupup: Just a heads up, your caps lock appears to be on.
