Why are Travelzoo deals always downvoted into oblivion?

I've noticed that whenever travelzoo posts any sponsored deal they get downvoted into oblivion and am just wondering at people's reasoning. Is it just because they make you sign up before you can view the deal or is there more?

I've bought several deals from them and have always been happy. Have people had unsatisfactory experiences? Would love to hear my fellow wooters thoughts on this.

Because they are not deals. They are ads.

@90mcg112 hit it on the head. It's the same reason Netflix is always voted down. While it may not be a rip-off or even a bad deal, it's not a "deal" in the sense the community tries to proffer, because it's a year round price structure.

So if it's something that's always offered, then it's not exactly a deal

Geez, why so negative?

You have to vote up more before you can vote down.

Don't get us wrong. Negativity has its place. And downvotes are just as essential as upvotes when it comes to making Deals.Woot a useful place to find deals.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?
