Is this what the two floppy disks are for in the woot logo? I was trying to figure it out all morning, until I read my woot daily digest. By the way, if you guys have been around for 20 years... what was your business model back then?

In 1993 I was 15 and moved from NYC to the burbs of Philadelphia. I HATED IT! That was a bad year....fast forward 20 years and I couldn't imagine living in NYC now. Love to go back and visit, but I am happy in the Philly burbs.

@pinchecat: In the early 90′s Nike responded to Reebok’s Pump with their own series of basketball sneakers that featured Air Pump technology that gave the wearer a better fit about the ankle. David Robinson was the signature athlete to represent the high top Nike Pump series that included the Nike Air Pressure, Nike Air Command Force, and the Nike Air Force 180 Pump.

I was born in 1993 so yeah, it was a pretty awesome year for me.

In 1993, I lived at my high school for a few weeks because we were evacuated due to "The Flood of '93". My town is on the river, and there were about 4 weak spots in the levee. The main highlights of my stay were catching toads outside, playing bingo one night, and having a "Christmas in July". We could never play in the gyms because there were always National Guard members sleeping, and I got creepy vibes from the guy in charge of childcare. Turned out my creep-o-meter was properly calibrated as he is now on the sex offenders list for crimes against a child.

I also detasseled for 1 day (at least I didn't quit at lunch!) and went on a missions trip to Mexico that summer.

My "baby" graduated Hi School the following year.
I was a Banyan Admin at a large gov firm.
I still have the receipt for my Seagate ST-225, because I paid $225 for it. 20mb.

@msklzannie: I detasseled for a full season. I distinctly remember riding my bike up to the local grocery store and getting on the bus at 6am to be hauled out to the fields. I had long sleeve shirts and jeans on (to protect against cuts) and had my cassette player in tow. It was downright slave labor I thought until I got that paycheck. It was damn hard work but man that money was good for the day. It was hot, grueling work, but it gave me a lot of drive to get an education and work indoors!

@jha1223: I was only going to be able to detassel for a week anyhow; I left on my mission trip that weekend. Some kids quit before lunch so I was quite proud that I finished the day. It was while we were living @ my high school so my brother (who worked the whole season) and I hopped the bus there. Mom made sure we wore jeans, long sleeve shirts (lightweight flannel IIRC), and leather gloves.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?
