One of the few reasons I stay in the banana republic of california.

Rainy w/ some mixed slushy snow early hours of the am.
And very windy.
But then, this is not unusual for us.
We need the rain to make up for a few drought years, so not going to complain.

I think this means we get extra May flowers this year ?
The crocus', as hardy as they are, have been frozen and I think will not be back.
The daffy dills were trying to bloom before things go so ugly the past couple days. I think they will make it.

i confess. Not my picture. But this is what they look like after the slushy snow.

North Florida: It's totally beautiful right now! Slight chance of showers later today. Mostly sunny with an expected high of 84.

The next seven days: pretty much the same, highs between 76 and 86.

Frankly, it's really WAAAAY too early for upper-80's temps, as far as I'm concerned. i really loathe hot, humid weather, which is why I've lived in Florida most of my life [sigh].

North Carolina: the last week and a half has been beautiful, highs in the high 70s to low 80s, admittedly there have been a few showers but that what April is sbout :-)

and this coming week looks just the same :-)

Typical April in AR. Highs in the mid-80s M-W, highs in the 50s T-F.

Yes, we are having 80s in the day and 50s at night, although the weekend is supposed to be dropping down into the 70s/40s. Our downside is the annoying and destructive wind, 40mph all week and escalating to 60mph on Thursday to blow in the cold front. Kept blowing over my heavy wooden furniture on my porch yesterday, I finally surrendered and left it lying down lest it be broken. I have everything on my deck lashed to the railings, and it already tore the canopy off my swing in the sheltered back yard. Having a lovely temperature does you no good when it's too windy to do anything out side or to have the doors and windows open. Oh well, at least it isn't snowing. :)

We set some record lows last week, might set them again this week. Overall we're about where we should be for this time of year though, and the rain is so badly needed.

That said, I'm going to be the pedantic jerk who always chimes in on the global warming thing. Wacky weather patterns are exactly what is predicted, and that includes being cold when it isn't supposed to be cold. As the global average rises, weather patterns go insane. Our atmosphere is a very-finely tuned machine and REALLY hates it when things go out of whack. Now, I'll throw a bone to the deniers, we don't have an entire planet we can run tests on, so we can't 'prove' the warmup is caused by the actions of man. But the warmup is a fact, and computer models tell us the cause. We also can't objectively 'prove' evolution either, but many accept it as rock-solid, proven, undeniable fact. Bottom line, we're crapping the nest. We can deny it all we want, but denial won't end it.

Snowed yesterday, 70 today.

@stile99: Not only are we crapping in the nest, which is reprehensible, but we've defunded the flight program so we have to live here till we can't anymore. We are experiencing the ultimate demonstration of "we've made our bed, now we must lie in it."

We just got a foot of snow overnight here in ND. Interstates are closed. No travel advised. But yet our public schools are only 2 hrs late....

Beautiful weather today in the Pacific Northwest, but it snowed and hailed over the weekend! It's not strange to have a downpour and sunshine in the same day here :P

In Central Florida the weather has been beautiful for weeks. Soon it will be too hot.

@jgahner: are you in GF? I think it may be because we have had 3 snow days this year and have to make one up at the end of the year.

Given the reported near-record 90 degrees in DC one day last week, I'm not really too anxious for warmer weather. Honestly, I'm okay with the 50 degree weather we've been having lately. It's easy to put on a sweater; when it's 90, there's not much you can do to get comfortable.
