Do you get any extra days off during the week of Thanksgiving?
I started a new job over the summer and this will be the first year that I won't be working the Friday after Thanksgiving. I also usually travel during the week, but I get to work from home Monday through Wednesday. I've chosen to use the time at home to scare the crap out of my two year old by introducing him to The Neverending Story (the wolf still creeps me out, but he loves the Rock Biter so my plan isn't working).
Are you still stuck at work, even on the Friday after Thanksgiving?

Not sure if i get them, but im taking off the rest of the week tomorrow ;)
No, I'm thankful to have it off, but I do have to use a vacation day for it.
College student here, I have class Wednesday and go back Monday luckily I grew up close to campus so I can go home for Thanksgiving but I am sure many people on campus will not have that luxury.
We get Thanksiving off, and many years ago the employees voted to trade Veterans' Day for Black Friday. So we work on Veterans' Day (we set up a remembrance table with goodies on it with paper on the walls for people to write about their loved ones who have served). I am taking that Monday off to clean up after all the social events happening at my house over the weekend.
Off Thursday and Friday - love the long weekend, it allows time to shop and decorate for the holidays!
all 4 day paid in full plus holiday pay "im using vacation time" :)
Just Thursday and Friday for us, unfortunately. I took Monday off, too, though (my first year; don't get much vaca time).
Allll weeeek loooong
Thursday is a paid holiday, Friday I am off but unpaid. My company only gives off like 6 holidays a year so they at least don't force people to run into the office after possibly traveling but it being unpaid does kinda suck.
No, working Friday.
We get Thanksgiving off and then we're either allowed to take off Black Friday or an extra day at Christmas. I opted for Black Friday ^^
I have two choices, Take the friday off with no pay, or get paid the friday and burn 2 vacations days... I'm going for the first one.
Thursday and Friday off here, paid holiday days.
Thursday is paid.
Friday is "liberal leave"...basically means that no one has to be here and 99% of the employees will take it off; however, that means you are charged with taking a vacation day, or go Leave without Pay I suppose....I'm taking it off...haven't decided if I'm shopping yet or not.
Off Thursday and Friday. Taking Wednesday off to get some stuff done before going to visit family.
Off Thursday (paid), but I have to work Friday.
Just Thursday and Friday.
Off Thursday and Friday, both paid. I took Wednesday before as well as Monday and Tuesday after Thanksgiving off. That way I get a whole week off and only use 3 days.
I have 250hrs of PTO, and at the end of the year, they "discard" any hours over 190. I get to take another whole week off somewhere for the holidays (YAY!) just dunno when yet.
I just wish someone else here could do my job so it doesn't all pile up while I'm not at work.
As I work as a subcontractor and work when/if I want, I get the time off if I take it. However, not working equals less pay so...
I've got the whole week off!
I work Thursday and Friday and Saturday.
But I get a comp day for Thursday.
And I am taking the entire Christmas week off, so it's a fair trade to me.
Thursday and Friday are both official holidays where I work, so I'm off with pay and no loss of vacation hours.
But I am also on call this weekend. For that, I get $22.00 per day for babysitting their cell phone, 8 comp hours per holiday day, and 2 additional comp hours if I get called out. The downside being I am available 24/7. Christmas is also lucrative, as there are 2 official holidays each for Christmas and New Year's, and the three days between are usually unofficial holidays.
@bogie21: We can accrue 352 vacation hours, but if you get to that, you lose it every month when they do the payroll.
Yes! I also get Friday off, and I took off next M to W.
I work at Walmart, I have to be there at 9pm thanksgiving night, I am working untill 9am friday morning. be gentle please when you see me at work.
Paid time off for Thursday but not Friday...doing 10 hour shifts to make up the time...
We're off for Thanksgiving and back open Friday but I took it off as it would have been my half day anyways. Plus I'm off Sat so 4 day weekend!
