My female cat really likes Christmas music...she will curl up in her rocking chair near the stereo whenever we have Christmas music on.
My male cat just likes to watch TV...Bonanza or Gunsmoke, mostly.

My cat, who sadly passed a few years ago( age 19 ) , loved to sing. He was especially fond of classic show tunes, but he'd sing along to most anything that wasn't screechy. He liked something w/ some sort of melody. My nieces and nephews used to love to put on music and sing with him.
I could sing a line, point to him, and he'd take the next verse : )

My parents' old dryer softly squeaked with every rotation of its drum. Their cockatiel loved chirping along with that squeak, so they daily turned on the empty dryer for twenty minutes just for his amusement. (Music really doesn't seem to affect him one way or the other.)

My Pet Rock thoroughly enjoys the Rolling Stones! It gets satisfaction every time I play Mick and the guys! ;->

@ginawoot, I am babysitting a cockatiel for a friend and she likes the theme song to The Andy Griffith Show. She starts whistling along at the beginning of the show.

I don't think my cat likes any music. . . not any music I play, anyway. He prefers to watch TV.

I did have a parakeet who absolutely loved The Beach Boys. . . never chirped louder than when I played "I Get Around."

My greyhound will sing/howl along to country music, especially bluegrass. Otherwise, he completely ignores the radio.

My rottie likes when I play guitar and sing to him. He likes to sit or lay on my toes so he can feel my feet tap along. He's partial to James Taylor and the Grateful Dead.

@ceagee: any chance at all you have any video of this? you have made my night regardless, one of the best pet stories I've ever heard!! awesome cat is awesome!

@bdsmonkey: Sadly no video. I do have an old cassette of some singing and some "conversation" on an old phone's memo.
Saved the phone of course.Too sad to listen to them. Hard to listen to our special songs too.
Another goofy thing : We used to have opera days. Hey when you have a cat like that, it's inspiring. Fun for nieces too. We would sing everything. No talking allowed. And have some good Mozart playing.

I recorded purrs on my old mac/garage band. Needs editing. Nothing more soothing to the soul then some good purring !
They are of him and his friend who was a year older. * tears *

Of course, in the past year, 2 strays showed up at my door --separately-- so I have live purrs once more. No singers. But they each have their own specialness. It's hard after 19 + years each to get used to new friends. These new kitties have traumas from being dumped. It's nice to watch them blossom as trust grows.

When I leave my dog home alone he always has the same song on repeat when I get back, Throbbing Gristle's "Hamburger Lady". Since he's just a dog, I assume he thinks it's about a lady who brings hamburgers or something.

@mattysc: Your greyhound story reminded me that a long-departed dachshund would lustily howl along, from under the couch, with my dad's beloved saxophone albums. To the end of his long life, it remained a mystery whether he loved or hated the music.

We trained our dog to sing whenever the house phone rings, which can get annoying when you're trying to greet someone on the phone and the dog is howling in the background.

I'm late on this, but one of my cats loves the Baby TV channel. We discovered this accidentally while flipping channels. She listens to the music and watches the shapes and drawings on the screen intently.

Both of my cats like any music as long as people are singing it. They come right over to whoever is singing. They couldn't care less about anything recorded though.
