What the heck is the deal with Pear Audio Cables?

I have heard about ridiculously priced audio cables, but I thought these took the cake:

This is $2,750 for a 3 foot audio cable.

I know a fool and his/her money are soon parted. But besides the obvious "no reason other that it being a status symbol" factor, what the heck?

They're magic golden pear cables.

This is an old article, but it looks like there are a lot of fools out there wasting their money on all kinds of fluff. http://most-expensive.net/audio-cables

Don't get me started on these "special" cables. If you want to hook up your speakers to your stereo system, your home theater system, or any other audio system, go to Radio Shack, and pick up the cheapest wire you can. Seriously, wire is wire.

P.S. I have a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, so I feel like I have a bit of knowledge in this area.

@mrmucox: agreed. I'd really like to take an audiophile, have him listen to 5 audio sources, one using this unobtanium wire, and the other 4 using stereo cables and see if he can pick out which one is the special one.

@mrmucox: Whatever! I hook up my 3000 dollar cables to my 60 dollar RCA surround sound system so I get the best sound possible. You could say I'm an audiophile, nbd or anything.

This is the most ridiculous review I have ever read. LOL straight from the Pearcable website...

"In extended listening sessions, I found the cables' greatest strength to be its PRAT. Simply put these are very danceable cables. Music playing through them results in the proverbial foot-tapping scene with the need or desire to get up and move. Great swing and pace—these cables smack that right on the nose big time."

Since he says they will make me dance I guess I will go out and by several 12 foot pairs for $7250 each.
