What are your thoughts on the Wii U?
I've got myself a Wii with a good handful of games, and a couple of Gamecube games. As happy as I am to know that I can expect to play Wii games in the future over HDMI, I don't plan to upgrade until after the first couple of price drops.
I already have a Wii, I don't want to lose access to my Gamecube games but don't want two consoles in one spot. Also, my Wii is hacked, so all my games run off an attached hard drive attached by USB without disc swapping.
I have a HTPC that runs all of the older games I own (SNES, NES, Gameboy, Genesis, Playstation) but Dolphin, the current best Wii and Gamecube emulator just can't run fast enough on any moderately -priced hardware. I'd upgrade to Wii U in a heartbeat if I could move all my original Wii games to a computer running those games in HD with a real Wii remote, but the software isn't there yet.
I'm going to wait til the price drops. I got burned on the PSP years ago. ;) Had to have it right away. Was not worth the early adopter jump.
my child loves the wii. i really don't want to get Wii U, but will get it eventually. Maybe I'll let him play the PS3 for a while instead of getting a Wii U. It does look AWESOME though.
I would wait. A long time.
They had a hard time selling the 3DS. Now the have the XL 3DS, which I might buy, but the U, I'll pass. We love our wii. They still make plenty of games for it, plus you can play the gamecube games on it. In this economy, not may people are laying out tons of money for these types of things.
I'm going to purchase one provided I can figure out a way to transfer all of my current Virtual Console games to the new console. And I want to check out the New Super Mario Bros. U game.
I'm still putting away money for the 3DS, but hopefully I can hint at one for Christmas or get gift cards towards the purchase of one. When the current generation of consoles hit a few years ago, I went with Nintendo and was happily surprised with the amount of material on the virtual console. Hoping for the same experience on the Wii U.
was so stoked when i first saw it, as time goes on its become more of a meh. I will more than likely end up buying it for the golf game, since it looks so awesome. At least the wiimote will still work with it...
