yup. that's right. it's wednesday. so that means that it's chat night. chat start time is "official" at 8pm woot texas time.

we have people there basically all the time, so if "official" chat time doesn't work for you stop in when you can. we love seeing new people. and be sure to check out lichme's stalker. he keeps updating and finding great new way to make it more useful.

I have a question about chat. Are there any safeguards in place to be certain that someone does not sign-in with another persons ID? Thanks!

@questionsanswered: If you register your username, you can password protect in so that every time you join, you have to authenticate the name. If somebody tries to join and doesn't authenticate, they will be renamed to Guest

To register: When you join with your nickname (if nobody else has registered it), type the following command into the chat box:

/nickserv register YOURPASSWORD YOUREMAIL

Once you verify your registration, you can authenticate with the following command:

/nickserv identify yourpassword

Geez, why so negative?

You have to vote up more before you can vote down.

Don't get us wrong. Negativity has its place. And downvotes are just as essential as upvotes when it comes to making Deals.Woot a useful place to find deals.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?
