Considering the Kindle Fire hasn't been out that long, don't count on it.

If you can wait for a while (probably a long while), then you may see a price drop.

LOL at myself. I read that as Kindle fire sale. Like they used to have fire sales after a fire. Then it became a catch phrase. Took a minute to realize you meant the Kindle Fire. An a related note: I'm STILL waiting for the Kindle Keyboard w/3g no ads (old name K3) to go on sale. Hint, hint woot.com!

I doubt they would be any cheaper than $199 considering Amazon is taking a loss at that price. (It costs $201.70 to produce)

So $199 is a great deal for it!

@gmwhit: I had the exact same reaction and when I figured it out I kept thinking about Arrested Development, when Tobias goes to audition thinking he's going to be in a real fire but in fact he's just reciting the voice over for a "fire sale" advertisement.

"OH MY GOD, IT'S A FIRE!... sale... IT BURNS!"

To answer the OP's question, I wouldn't expect anything before Christmas. This has to got to be on a lot of people's wish lists even at the current price. I for one have the regular old kindle and it's pretty great. I guess it doesn't have any wow factor to it though.

Kindle Fire is one hot item! Yuck, yuck, yuck. Gonna be a while before there's any discounts or biggie sales on them.

They ran a sale a week or so ago that the Fire was $189....I can
t recall if it was black friday or another day shortly after. If there is a sale I wouldn't expect much more then $10 since it is a new product that seems to be well received.

@czarkingkaiser: Ummmm The Kindle Fire & the 'old' Kindle (1,2 & 3 which is renamed Keyboard) are completely different. The Kindle is primarily an e-reader that uses e-ink; it is NOT backlit. The Fire is a touchpad, does not use e-ink; reading e-books on it is only 1 of it's functions. IMO, using a Kindle Fire for reading e-books is not a very good idea. It's like reading them on the Free Kindle app you can download on your back-lit computer. For lengthy reading times: Backlit=Eye-strain

@gmwhit: highly likely, but not until after the holidays and sales die out a bit for the kindles. Especially if they ever scrap the keyboard in favor of the touch only.

@psumek: It is my understanding that they are no longer manufacturing the Keyboard. They are now outdated. <---- I hate that term. The keyboard is my personal favorite. I currently have 3, though 1 is being gifted...as soon as I package it & go to the dreadful post office. But the USPS is another issue. ;-)
