questionswhat movie do you hate, that other people love?

Hate is too strong of a word, but I never got the craze over The Titanic. Wasn't a bad movie, but the biggest grossing movie of all time? Really???

vote-for5vote-against

The Boondock Saints. I just didn't like it. If I dared to say this in front of my friends, they would go crazy! They think the movie is a masterpiece.

vote-for2vote-against

The original Matrix. I don't know if it was disappointing because of all the hype I heard beforehand or if I just didn't get it.

I didn't hate the Lord of the Rings movies, but I think I'm in a very small minority that thinks they would have been better if they'd been edited down to shorter run times.

vote-for10vote-against

@conanthelibrarian: Wow! That is one of my all time favorites! I remember going to see The Blair Witch Project with my friends because everyone said it was soooooo scary. Scooby Doo and the Haunted Mansion was scarier than that piece of crap. We booed when it was over.

vote-for6vote-against

The Wizard of Oz. Didn't like Dorothy, didn't like the munchkins, hated the monkeys.

Also Dances With Wolves.

vote-for4vote-against

Braveheart. I know I'm going to get downvoted in to the ground here, but I saw it my freshman year in college - twice - and slept through most of it each time. The story is good, but for heavens sake, that movie was just too damn long.

vote-for13vote-against

All the really goofy Will Farrell and Jim Carey movies that people quote verbatim all the time in the office and drive me nuts.

@jha1223 - you think you're gonna get downvoted...... ;-)

vote-for-2vote-against

I hated the first Godfather. It was so bad I refused to see the sequels. People tell me I'm crazy. I also thought Titanic was crappy, though unlike The Godfather, I saw some redeeming qualities to it.

vote-for9vote-against

@conanthelibrarian: I really like it, but I think Boondock Saints is just one of those movies where you either love it or hate it.

I hated Avatar. Other than being visually stunning, I really have nothing good to say about the film.

vote-for13vote-against

Napoleon Dinamite, I cannot stand that movie, I've never seen the appeal of it. It's just not funny...

vote-for7vote-against

All three of Michael Bay's TRANSFORMERS films. They were long, loud and pointless. Nothing but excursions in excess with barely a plot point between them.

Here is what was missing from the three films that would have benefited them greatly:
a) actual plots
b) actual characterizations
c) a real choreographer for the action sequences
d) actors who can actually act (Peter Cullen excluded)
e) Joss Whedon as director

Incidentally, if I had my way with the films, I would have designed the first feature with parallel story lines describing the simultaneous rise of both Megatron and Optimus Prime.

The Megatron story would have been a quiet and expert positioning of loyal lieutenants in strategic military and civilian positions to facilitate a coup of the government of Cybertron.

Meanwhile, the rise of Optimus would be based on "The Once and Future King" with the Matrix of Leadership substituting for Excaliber and Prime would be the benevolent King Arthur analog.

But that's just me.

vote-for9vote-against

@captainsuperdawg: I agree with you on AVATAR. I cannot stand that film.

(I was actually rooting FOR the military to blow up that stupid tree.)

vote-for5vote-against

@tarasadie17: FYI, there is a Scooby Doo short film that is a parody of The Blair Witch Project. It's pretty funny.

vote-for-2vote-against

inception is a horrible movie. feel free to disagree, 98% of people do.

vote-for5vote-against

I few weeks ago, I commented on a deal for District 9, that I thought it was a horrible movie, and I got about a hundred downvotes from people who apparently disagreed with me. So there you go, that's my choice. I still say it was a terrible movie!

vote-for2vote-against

I am not a fan of The Avengers. There, I said it. I've just seen one too many superhero movies and this one seemed to push me off the ledge. Although, I did see The Amazing Spider-Man tonight and I quite liked it; To me, it was a nice breath of fresh air.

vote-for1vote-against

@thedogma: I agree I should have read the title one more time instead of listening to my freinds Super Bad

vote-for2vote-against

Pulp Fiction. Can't stand it. Asinine drivel.

vote-for4vote-against

@conanthelibrarian: The critics agree with you. Boondock Saints scored a measly 17% on Rotten Tomatoes -- http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/boondock_saints/

vote-for9vote-against

Napoleon freakin' Dynamite.

vote-for13vote-against

Titanic. That boat could not sink fast enough and the theme song cemented my dislike of Celine Dion.

vote-for4vote-against

Starship Troupers. I have known several people who said it was their favorite.

vote-for5vote-against

Steel Magnolias... Maybe it's just the testosterone coursing thru me; but, if there is a Hell, and I'm sent there, this move will be playing 24-7...

vote-for4vote-against

A Christmas Story.

Saw it for the first time last year, upon the recommendation of several people. My opinion of them dropped. It was REALLY stupid.

vote-for3vote-against

Foot Loose, both versions, painful.

vote-for4vote-against

@samwfoster: I agree. I forced myself to sleep through half of Inception so I didn't have to watch anymore. I was with my husband who was enjoying it so I couldn't leave :)

vote-for7vote-against

Nearly any movie with Will Ferrell. I just don't get what people see in him.

Oh, and I boycott any movie with Tom Cruise, whether it's good or not. That man has done more to increase stigma against mental illness than anyone else in the last century!

vote-for5vote-against

Maybe not hate, but just don't get - The Hangover. I finally saw it (and it was on regular TV so that could have been the problem) and I just didn't get all the hype. I normally love that type of movie, so I don't think that was it. All you guys saying Jim Carrey and Will Farrell movies - I don't agree but I understand.

vote-for4vote-against

@mkdr: You can't watch the Hangover on regular tv... oh the editing!

vote-for7vote-against

I think District 9 might be the most overrated movie in history. Huge plot holes, an absurd premise, and a completely unlikable cast of characters. I was stunned when it was nominated for an Academy award, I've seen SciFy channel Beast of the Week movies with better premises and storytelling.

vote-for4vote-against

@pooflady: I agree with you about the Wizard of Oz. I can't stand that movie and I can't get away from it because I live in Kansas. sigh

vote-for4vote-against

@tippypaws: I did think it might have something to do with it...so I will give an unedited version a try one of these days.

vote-for6vote-against

I disliked the Lord of the Rings movies. Not because they were bad movies, mind you. They just weren't for me. The sweeping views of New Zealand were lovely, but got old. The characters and plot were all very good, but there were so many characters and so much plot that I think a lot got skimmed over. It doesn't help that the theater I went to had a horrible sound system and I couldn't hear any of the characters speak, but the music and sound effects nearly blew my eardrums out.

I can't say why I disliked the movies. There was just something missing for me.

vote-for6vote-against

There was another poll similar to this, and when I put in my most disliked movie, I was downvoted - but not to be intimidated, I really did not like Waterworld.

vote-for3vote-against

Waterworld too long.
Kevin Costner bottomed out on that one and lost a bunch of his own money.

vote-for5vote-against

I disliked the Spiderman trilogy with Tobey Maguire. After the first one, my friend and I felt like we had been totally let down. I didn't want to see the 2nd one, but the 3rd one came out and a bunch of friends wanted to go, so we rented the 2nd one and then we never ended up seeing the 3rd one because I brought them to my side...

vote-for3vote-against

Planets of the Aps. Monkeys scare me when they are human size. I had nightmares after seeing the 1990's version because the make up art was better and they looked like that could eat a mans face off.

vote-for2vote-against

There's Something About Mary

vote-for1vote-against

I hate any movie with the world "Transformers" in the title.

vote-for1vote-against

Oh yeah. and definitely hate the Spiderman movie with a dancing Tobey Maguire....zoiks!

vote-for1vote-against

Easiest question ever on WOOT.

GHOST

The movie is (excuse my yelling, sorry) EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT WOMEN CLAIM IS ROMANTIC.

Think about it.

The Patrick Swayze character has no trouble getting physical with the Demi Moore character, but can't tell her, "I love you". Just a hint ladies. If you look like Demi Moore, and a guy wants to sleep with you, it is no proof that he loves you.

But, it gets worse.

The guy dies and becomes a spirit. Wouldn't you think a SPIRIT would be more SPIRITual??? Maybe most spirits, but this guy is a real prize. He still has to slip into Whoopi Goldberg's body so he can grope her some more. WHAT A PIG.

Yes, this movie should be removed from the Romance section and be relabeled Soft Porn. (Or, women should once and for all admit that they're just as depraved as men are.)

vote-for0vote-against

a movie that i don't like ? hmm well let's see Star Wars i guess cause its just not my type of movie.
