I own over 350 games on steam, mostly purchased as part of holiday packs, or as publisher packs during the last 3 Steam holiday sales. In most cases, I purchased the packs because they had 1 or 2 games I was interested in, and the price of the bulk pack was only marginally more than the rest of the games. Of the 350+ games I own, I've only logged time on about 50 of them.

I do occasionally tap a random game and start playing it to see if I like it or not, but it takes a while when there are so many other games to deal with.

Far more often than I'd like. I don't even know the last time the Wii was on.

I always have my eye out for Xbox360 or PS3 game deals. Currently I have about 30 games that I have picked up for around $10 or less and have not yet played. I'm not even sure when I will get around to playing them all, but I do have an interest in trying them out and do really want to play them.

The Best Buy sales over the past few weeks have made it even worse. I picked up several games for about $5.

I keep meaning to quit my job so I can devote more time to gaming...

I still have some unwrapped PS1, PS2 and Xbox 360 games. C'est la vie du videogamer.

Very often. I can think of over 20 games I have at home off hand that are still sealed in original plastic. I know I have another 10-15 on Steam that I haven't touched yet.
I bought the GTA pack a few weeks back, haven't installed one game yet.

I buy video games like candy.. and I probably have a good 50+ video games that have never been opened. From the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP, DS/3DS and PS2 even.. All my older systems games have been played (going all the way back to the Atari 2600).. I have quite the collection of retro systems/games..

I just don't have enough time in the day to play them all.. I tend to focus on 1 video game until I max it, and then move onto the next.. but when video games come out as quickly as they do, tend to get over-run.

Which is why I usually wait until they are extremely cheap before I buy them. Only exception to that is Mario/Kirby/Zelda Games (which hardly ever go on sale, best you can usually get is a B2G1 or something similar), and Call of Duty games.

I don't have a lot of games that I haven't played, but I did pick up a few over Thanksgiving and Christmas on Steam and through other .com sales that I haven't installed yet. I'll get to them eventually. By keeping a backlog of a few un-played games, I don't have the itch to go out and pay full price for the hottest thing on the market. I wait 'til the price drops and pick it up when it goes on sale.

Finally going to crack the seal monday on the portal 2 I've had since november. I hope. :/

I gotta tell ya--it's nice to see that other folks do this too! Invariably during the xmas season, there are so many games offered at a discount that it's hard not to pick up a couple that never seem to see the light of day...

Never. I don't buy them unless I intend to play them. That said, there are a number I wish I could say I didn't play. Army Of Two: 40th Day, I'm looking at you. Worst game I've ever played.

Never. They cost around $60 a pop if you get them new and I'm nowhere near able to just throw that kind of money down the drain.

Do board games count? Have bought/received as gifts, haven't played several of them yet.

I am a video game and system collector. I have 22 different game systems and 150+ games for my xbox 360 alone. So yes I have games I haven't played but will get to someday.

@segafanalways: wow! that beats mine handily. i have over 500+ games between systems that i've counted. i have more that i'm still working to locate. i use GCStar to manage my collections.

to answer the OP question: yes, i buy often and hardly play them. and that was when i had a full time job, family and other responsibilities. now i've added school to that mix so it will even more interesting to see how much time i don't have.

@jockovonred: Nice collection amount on the games. For which systems?

vote-for1vote-against

@segafanalways: my biggest collection has been for pc. the xbox and x360 are then probably the next largest (in that order).

i grew up loving arcades (the coin operated kind). i remember we'd spend so much money and time in bowling alleys and actual dedicated arcade rooms. big hits were pole position and dragons lair.

I have probably 20 that I haven't played, and far far more than that not beaten. Usually I'll start a game and see what its about when I buy it but lately I've been dedicating my time to straight play thrus without break. That said, that number only includes games I have physical copies for and I'm not counting my NES, Genesis, Atari, etc.. mostly because I will likely never beat most of those (assuming they are possible to beat and not just never ending).
