Can you recommend a USB floppy drive for parts?
I'm looking to make a bit of a franken-floppy* drive for my own nefarious purposes. I am trying to locate a USB floppy drive that can be disassembled so that a usable floppy -> usb controller can be extracted from it for what I need. I haven't had much luck figuring out what is in any given USB floppy drive, or pictures that help me figure it out.
I was considering maybe the LS-120 drives since they were really common, but it looks like some (all? not sure) of them used USB->ATA controllers, which would not be helpful. From pictures, it looks like there may be some promise with a TDK USB floppy, but I'm not sure.
*the goal is to put a TEAC combo (5.25 / 3.5) floppy drive in to one so I can hopefully read my old 5.25" floppy disks again. Got the drive lined up, now I need the adapter. Already have an enclosure that will fit the drive, as well.
