Ever have a cavity filled on your front teeth?
I had a filling on the front of my canine tooth a couple months ago. It's an unusual spot (I have crappy enamel). It was still really bothering me, sensitive to hot/cold, etc, so I went back to the dentist and he re-did it.
It has been a month, and it is STILL bothering me. Very sensitive to hot/cold. Dull achy pain sometimes.
Is this the norm for a front filling in your incisors, cuspids or bicuspids?
Just curious if this discomfort will eventually recede, or if I need to go find another dentist to drill in my face again. :(
I've had 2 filled and did not have the problem...I'd recommend a second opinion
I had one filled on the front face of my lower right canine (#27) maybe 20 years ago. It has never caused me any significant pain, though most of the teeth on the right side of my mouth are sensitive to cold and I've brushed with a potassium nitrate toothpaste (eg. Sensodyne) for decades, so I just may not notice it any longer.
I had one & I have not experienced that pain.
I had a filling that caused me similar problems with heat/cold sensitivity. Over time it eventually subsided. As in almost a year.
Given that the alternative was a root canal, I lived with it until it finally stopped.
Thanks everyone for your answers. Your advice seems to correspond with my friends' opinions.
I'll totally take this discomfort over a root canal! The thought of that makes me want to burst into tears.
I guess I'll be making a visit to my old dentist (further away now) for a 2nd opinion. This was only my 3rd filling ever, and I never had trouble with the ones in the molars. Sad.
