@unoriginal26: Great call. I used to watch this movie a lot for some reason. I was 7 or so when it came out and just remember loving it. We still have it on VHS somewhere around here...

The scary movie I am recommending to everyone this Halloween is "A Tale of Two Sisters" (Janghwa, Hongryeon). It is a fantastic Korean horror film and it recently became available to stream on Netflix!

@jjkehoe: Without a doubt, the original Halloween. Very suspenseful without a lot of gore.

I think that The Orphanage (by Guillermo del Toro) is the best "spooky" movie I've seen this decade. I like showing neophytes the Legend of Hell House and the original The Haunting ("Some houses are just born bad.").

If you are looking for some spooky enjoyment and have some time to kill online, read through this. It's really a great read.

I'll echo Great Pumpkin, of course.

In an entirely different direction, I am a big fan of the original Halloween. Still scares the heck out of me, with surprisingly little gore.

@teevoo: Second that.
It's also one of my favorite Christmas movies.

Trick 'R Treat is good. Came out a few years ago. A series of short stories all tied together.

I recently watched Casper: The Friendly Ghost recently. I've watched it as a kid but never understood it the first few times around until now.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Simply the best.
