Popcorn: sweet, buttery, or savoury is best?
Here in North America, we're totally used to salty buttered popcorn (or popcorn with "topping" in theatres where they are looking to cut costs) in our cinemas, but overseas, it is not uncommon to find cinemas serving their popcorn sweetened with a light sugary coating. There's caramel corn, usually found in pre-filled bags, or as part of CrackerJack or Poppycock, though occasionally you run into a cooker who is making it fresh. Further complicating the situation, there is now kettle corn being made that is both sweet AND salty, all in the same batch! And of course, we can't forget the ever popular savoury chip-flavoured corns (salt and vinegar, dill pickle, ketchup, etc.)...
I'm partial to caramel corn for non-cinematic experiences, and either butter or ketchup when at the theatre, myself.
