Car talk by a long shot

Some of the news coverage on NPR bothers me, although to be fair so does just about all the news on TV. Reading it is just so much nicer.

"Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" though I'm a regular "Marketplace" listener during the week.

Car talk and Wait Wait. I like em both.

There's an NPR podcast that I love called Pop Culture Happy Hour. I have no idea if it is an actual radio show, but it should be.

After that, Car Talk and Whada'ya know.

This American Life
Wait Wait Don't Tell Me
All Things Considered

I have also been enjoying the How To Do Everything podcast.

The one with the lady (or is it a man?) who provides insightful social commentary and news updates in a monotone, unexcited fashion.

That one's pretty cool

I generally only listen to NPR in the car, so what I listen to is more a function of when I'm driving than anything else. However, my favorites are:

All Things Considered
Car Talk
Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!

Wait Wait. Besides its inherent entertainment value, the show is pretty much my main source for weekly news!

Wait Wait Don't Tell Me
This American Life
Radiolab

I used to listen to Car Talk and love it, but I have been obsessively listening to all the "Stuff to blow your mind" podcasts from How Stuff Works, and haven't had time lately.

I am a big fan of This American Life. I have also been getting into Radio Lab and Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. I have a bunch of the American Life episodes on my zune and just listen to them while I drive.

Really love This American Life and Radiolab (wish more episodes came out for it though). Also enjoy listening to Wait Wait and Car Talk. That's basically my weekly lineup that gets me through some dull moments. I'm also a fan of listening to the Brian Lehrer show on WNYC on the weekdays and I enjoy Science Friday on Talk of the Nation once in a while.

Completely forgot about this American life, which is odd because it is easily the NPR show I listen to the the most.

It used to be "This American Life" hands down, but it seems like they've dialed down the humor quotient in favor of more "earnest" stories over the last few years. I still enjoy it, but not as much as I used to. Now my favorite is "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" for sure. And I love "Sound Opinions," but it's on my NPR station at 6:00am on Saturday mornings, a bit too early for me to be a regular listener.

For those fans fo Wait Wait Don't Tell Me there is a british version I enjoy called The Now Show BBC Radio Four News Quiz. It's very enjoyable.

Car Talk, the rest of NPR is just too loud and exciting for my blood... ;)

Speaking of...the SNL Schweaty Balls skit was hilarious b/c of the double-entendre combined with the low key voices used on NPR. I'd like to have the same types announce an MMA match or overtime NCAA March Madness basketball game.

Or, the opposite, Dick Vitale or Gus Johnson discussing the emergence of the rare strain of fruit flies that are damaging crops in South America, or potential effect of cell phone waves on the honey bee's ability to navigate.
