Yes, I've been hoping for a warmer, drier Spring sooner than later. However, if you think about all the hot, humid Summers, we maybe missing these cold mornings and cool, breezy afternoons.

I blame global warming.

Before some climate change wizard comes on here to tell me how the use of xx product has contributed to a longer winter let me say I don't give a frack, it's a joke you tard.

vote-for7vote-against

There's still at least 18" of snow in my yard, flurries on and off all day. 26F with sustained winds of 5mph with gusts of 10-20. Barometric pressure is 29.54 and dropping, relative humidity 75%.
Film at 11.

@ecriscit: Pssst. I won't downvote you for the global warning comment, but do ask that you refrain from using "tard" as an insult.

vote-for6vote-against

@belyndag: It's short for "TARDIS" I'm sure

I say we cook up a mess of Groundhog Stew for Sunday dinner...maybe that'll turn the tide.

vote-for4vote-against

Well, seeing as we're less than a week into spring, I'd say give nature a little bit of time to catch up.
Anyway, as long as it's still cold out, that means less flowers/pollen out there to drive my allergies crazy!

vote-for5vote-against

Don't hate me because I live in the land of eternal spring...we never really had winter this year and it's been in the mid 60's to low 70's here for weeks.

vote-for4vote-against

@ecriscit: Good point. It must be the frakking fracking.

vote-for4vote-against

I still want to use my beautiful snow blower that I bought about four weeks ago on woot!, and still have not gotten a chance to use!

It's supposed to snow Sunday, so I would like to get a chance to fire that puppy up, even though I want Spring to be here too.

I'm so confused...

vote-for6vote-against

@ohcheri: Same here. It has been beautiful here in southern California the last week or so. I was outside most of the day yesterday.

vote-for7vote-against

Spring is messing with me. The snow is melting off again, so we'll see if it actually warms up soon.

(PS - I know I'm going to get downvoted like mad... but the word retard, unless being used towards a mentally challenged person, is completely acceptable and people are creating a giant ass hullabaloo over nothing. It's a word. "Psst"ing and correcting people to stop saying things that might offend someone is a ridiculous way to spend ones time.)

Though correcting the person correcting people is ok? shrug.

vote-for2vote-against

Personally, I'm hoping for one big last blast snow storm. A blizzard maybe. Nothing to hurt anyone. Just a couple days where the only thing you hear is the snowplow going by and everything is closed.
I live near Buffalo, and it's been way too long we had an old fashioned every winter day type blizzard. We have gotten spoiled. Total ho-hum winters. So a little snow people get all weird about it.
It's good for the trees and the water tables and all sorts of things to have winter.

That said. The grackles are back ! Saw the first ones this morning. They are large obnoxious birds that bully the others at the feeders. BUT because they are loud and obnoxious they really know how to change the whole outdoor symphony and up the volume so there is no mistake Spring is here or just around the corner anyways.
( It was only 2 . When the whole flock shows that's it for winter. They just seem to know)

Peace

@thumperchick: Perhaps I am just too sensitive because I have a child on the autism spectrum who has been called a "tard" his entire life in a derogatory manner. The "N" word is just a word, too. Please pardon my "giant ass hullabaloo," but if I choose to spend my time in such a "ridiculous" way, it is my choice.

Wow! My buttons have been pushed! I apologize for hijacking the topic. Extremely sensitive subject for me. Walk a mile......

vote-for4vote-against

Here in upper Michigan we've seen so much snow lately, unless we get some really warm weather, I don't think it's going to melt until July. Over 40" on the ground.

vote-for8vote-against

@belyndag: Wow! You got three downvotes for politely objecting to the use of "tard" as a pejorative, and another for explaining your objection. I am very disappointed in Wootville.

And @thumperchick, using the r-word as an insult to someone without an intellectual disability is almost worse. That is what turned a word that used to be a medical term into a derogatory term.

C'mon folks. Let's play nice. I have a cousin with an intellectual disability, as well as a nephew. Find a better word to use.

vote-for1vote-against

@belyndag: Whoever used that term to your child is a jerk. That simple.
@blgauthier: I disagree. There is a useful definition of the word - to 'retard' or inhibit. When something doesn't go it's full potential, it's been retarded.
The people who were called this term were thought (and by some still are thought) to be stunted. Now we know that in most cases, the brain simply processes information differently, in some cases almost overly develops senses, causing difficulty with stimuli. So 'retarded' is just flat out inaccurate. Anyone who insults or demeans someone for something completely out of their control is an asshat. Anyone who insults someone with a difference in brain function is actually the one who is 'retarded' - because they are not living up to their full potential as a human being.

My sister kicks ass in the Special Olympics every year. I get why you're sensitive to the word. I stand by what I said, though.

(Sorry again for hijacking thread!)

vote-for4vote-against

@thumperchick: I agree and disagree. The dozens of cruel people who used that term to and about my son are jerks. And there is, indeed, a useful definition of the word and more appropriate applications for it's use than as a pejorative.

On the other hand, @blgauthier is quite correct. The use of "retarded" as an insult to anyone denigrates all people with intellectual disabilities. This is how words become pejoratives! I stand by what I said, as well. Visit r-word.org and learn more about the movement.

Back to the topic -

Northeast Florida weather check in - it will be 34 tomorrow morning and 30 Wednesday morning. All this after 3" of rain Sat/Sun.

But it is sunny and not a cloud in the sky! Great for early spring yard work after the weekend soaking.

vote-for2vote-against

@kbsig106: Here in south Louisiana we were actually wearing shorts a couple of days ago (although the glow-in-the-dark legs were not something anyone needed to see), then it dropped to 34 degrees last night. Beautiful sunshiny day, though! I think it's supposed to get back up to about 60 degrees todat before hitting the 30s again the next couple of nights. Strangely cold for this time of year. We had already packed away our coats!

vote-for2vote-against

@belyndag: YoYo weather, cracked out the shorts last week too...

NC spring is always back and forth. It prolly won't settle down here until late April.

@thumperchick: @blgauthier: is correct. is it also ok to call someone a fag as long as they aren't a loud motorcycle rider? Using those words as insults is demeaning to those who they target no matter who you directed them towards.
