I use Tasker to turn wifi on when I'm at home but otherwise I leave it off.

WiFi access is critical for me.

It may be be the feature I rate most highly in future phone purchases because of both the speed and the enhanced connectivity in the areas I frequent.

@gideonfrost: this avialable on android? i found a tasker app but its 6.49, i'd rather turn on and off my wifi for that :P

I use wifi as much as possible. I have a pretty low GB plan, so wifi is important for me.

I use the 3G only about 99% of the time. At work, they put in a login system and web filter that makes the wifi pretty worthless. Plus, even before that, I noticed that leaving wifi turned on all day ran down the battery a bit. So I only turn wifi on when I'm doing some heavy use at home, like updating/downloading large apps. And I do that very rarely.

WiFi as much as possible. Gotta try to stay out of AT&T's top 5% so I can enjoy my data.
Plus WiFi is faster.

@drsilentg: Tasker does so much more than just turn on and off wifi.

Locale will also do it and is only 3.99

But Tasker is really worth the money once you learn how to use it. It's like magic when you make it work.

I use 3g most places except for where I work, AT&T is only offering edge in that area so I use wireless. They need to work on that

I use WiFi at home and at work. Even though I have an unlimited data plan, this typically keeps me under 2GB per month.
