What will you be cooking up for the 4th of July?
I'm hoping the weather will cooperate, since we’ll be hosting a small BBQ with grilled chicken breasts and all the usual BBQ sides. I’m still trying to figure out what to make for dessert, but it will be something yummy! I'm thinking I may also need to try spiral cutting hotdogs since it looks freaking cool!
What’s going to be on your plate? Have any amazing recipes you want to share?
I got tempted by looking up cornbread to help another community member out the other day, so I am thinking of trying one of those recipes.
@inkycatz: I've never made my own cornbread from scratch, but I think I definitely need to try this recipe, it looks amazing!
We are going be steaming crabs, having corn on the cobb and maybe trying to fry chicken in the turkey fryer, I've heard that it's really good.
I have some great dessert recipes at home (unfortunately I'm at work) so I'll see what I can find later tonight and post.
7 doz of fresh Washington Oysters - to be delivered on Tuesday - might not make it to Wednesday... :-)
@kristiwsu: thanks for posting the link to that video! I love hot dogs, especially the blackened carcinogens from grilling, and I can't wait to try that technique!
I'm not sure what I'm doing for the Fourth of July, but I have a brand-new grill (haven't even used it yet!) and I've been contemplating what I could cook on it using cast iron. I wonder if you could do a dessert like a bread pudding or fruit crumble in a skillet on the grill? With some vanilla ice cream, it would be delicious!
We'll probably have burgers and hot dogs, both well done. Other than that I haven't been told yet.
Beef...it's what's for dinner.
Lobster!
And as a bonus, the fish shop will cook it, so we can just bring it out to the boat to enjoy with some melted butter (in a thermos) with the fireworks
@neuropsychosocial: I remember seeing a cast-iron grilled dessert on Pinterest (I think it was a berry cobbler?), so it can be done! Doing a quick google search, I found a recipe for fruit cobbler on the grill. I think making a berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream would be amazing! I might need to give it a shot...
@phoenixgirrl: wow, that sounds awesome. Can I come if I bring some homebrew?
@kristiwsu: A little late, but I made a berry cobbler using my woot! cast iron skillet. Most wonderful way to eat fruit!!
